It's not a poll, it's Justin Bourne's blog.  He lives in Toronto.

Well that says it all.. doesn't it..

Well Pierre MacGuire (I know a lot of you don't like him) says that Ottawa is the most underappreciated City in North America...

I like Pierre. Especially his "compete level" and "off the charts" passion for the game.

1 year only? Hmmm....interesting. I like his game a lot, but I'll admit that he's a little on the small size. He'll be a top call up I assume and this time, he'll have to put the puck in the net.

Oh, Pierre. He is the Tobias Funke of hockey commentators.

Literally the only negative things I can think of about Ottawa are:

1.Taxes higher than the US

2.The amount of press can be annoying

This is a team with a core of players like Spezza, Karlsson, Michalek, Turris, Cowen, Anderson/Lehner, Methot, Ryan etc. that is up and coming and exciting.  That's one thing, perhaps the bigger thing is we have a player friendly coach that not only is good to his players, but also knows exactly how to win and has proven it here already (albeit not a Cup yet).

The city is nice, particularly if you have young kids or are about to start a family, the nightlife is average, but it certainly isn't a black hole.  There's nice places to hike and walk, nice museums.

I think Ottawa's very attractive right now - we've changed it a lot from a few years ago.  And as for Nash, that's life, he likely had a couple of destinations in mind and Ottawa wasn't one of them.  He probably would have had a much better time here than he did in NY playing hockey, but who knows.

Hey, you don't have to sell me.  I think Ottawa's one of the best cities on the planet to live in.

From a hockey perspective, pretty much the only thing we're lacking is an owner willing to pay you top dollar to play here.

I'll admit that it's possible he's out of money and if so, I hope he has the decency to sell half the team to someone with money so we can spend to the cap when we need to.  Which isn't now.

Well if he won't spend to re-sign this team's best players when their contracts expire... he is going to find a lot of fans will stop supporting them financially. Then he will be in deeper trouble than he is now.

Spoke to my account manager at the dev camp.. and he said they have had their best season ticket renewals than they have had in years.. So that's positive as well.

Good news for Melnyk: Council voted to send the casino issue to a special meeting of the finance and economic development committee Aug. 26. At the meeting, the committee will debate asking the OLG for a second gaming zone for Ottawa.

Which means RCR stays as it is.. and a 2nd Casino is built elsewhere -- IF APPROVED

RCR also says that it can't survive without a Casino...

So Watson has a choice (if only one) of supporting the horse racing industry which brings how much $$ to the City? Or an NHL team which brings millions up millions of dollars to the economy along with supporting charities and increasing tourism.

And Watson did say.. if only 1 Casino for Ottawa it will be at RCR.

So how stupid is that decision?

In all likelihood this guy is gone next season. I just don't see what you guys see in him. "Failed to impress" is where I slot him.

Remember when Galley was the colour commentator for us on local broadcasts? Good times. Now we're stuck with Denis "Florida Panthers" Potvin.

As it should be. Plenty of gambling degenerates to support at least 2 Casinos in Ottawa.

OLG thinks Ottawa can only support 1 casino, they ignored past requests for 2.

This is the city trying to pass the buck to OLG. If OLG comes back and says no, they'll tell Melnyk "Don't blame us, blame OLG".

Horse racing doesn't bring any money, it loses money. It's already heavily supported by the province and it apparently needs a casino to stay afloat anyway.

I saw a kid with wheels who knows where to be to get scoring chances. His problem is: he needs to produce.

Oilers apparently releasing their schedule in 1 hour. That would mean that the Olympic decision has been made. Also the Sens' schedule should be along soon after, and we cal circle a few dates on the calendar.

From Dobber's "7 Guys on New Teams to Stay Away From"

Joe Corvo

Now that Corvo is heading back to Ottawa, the whispers about him returning to offensive form have already started. And while it’s true that Corvo did put up a solid 64 points in 127 games during his last stint with Ottawa, that was way back in 2006-08. And think about it - there’s a reason why Corvo hasn’t managed to stay on the same NHL team for more than one season since 2008-09, and it’s because he simply does not live up to expectations. Plus, as you’ll recall from one of my Category Killers columns, Corvo finished dead last in Blocked Shots and fourth to last in Hits among defensemen the last time there was a full NHL season, so there’s a big concern that if he doesn’t manage to get you points you can’t even have his secondary stats to fall back on.

That's a very precise breakdown of Corvo. I like that Dobber site.

Looks like something Scott Cullen would write. Fantasy bullsh!t.

Scorevo will get around 30 pts. Nuff said, just like Sharknado.
