Playoff Preview 2010nh12

The way our NHL Bracket Preview works is the entire bracket is simulated 2,000 times. For each of
those 2,000, we simulate the entire playoffs, with each matchup in each
round consisting of a seven-game series. Home ice advantage is also
taken into account.

Very cool. So 6 games in the Pens vs. Sens series? Sounds about right to me.

When you click on matchup, not sure how to get the SIM to actually play the game, they have our starting line up as:

Michalek, Fisher, Alfie
Carkner - Phillips

If I try to change it to reality

Regin-Spezza-Alfie
Volchenkov-Phillips

And try to SIM it nothing happens.

You'll need to allow pop-ups from the site.

I get a Sens win 7-5 when I put those in.

I got nothing but losses. Must be something wrong with the sim. Any way to run it with a cross-check to Baby Crosby's windpipe, like in real-life?

Same here until I changed the Sens D pairing. Of course I also put Gonchar and Orpik as their starting D. I tried Sutton and Karlsson and got a 5-4 win.

Totally unrealistic stats though. Sutton had over 36 minutes played and shots were 64 to 45 in favour of Pittsburgh.

While simulations and projections are fun to look at, they don't take into consideration a lot of factors, like mental and physical wear. Two things that can swing any series as much as talent could ever hope to.

I totally agree PKC. It's purely for the fun. It means nothing.

I lost 4 games to nothing. WTF? 7-1, 6-3, 2-1, 5-1.

Elliott blows in this sim.

I also strongly disagree with the Washington Capitals overwhelming odds to win the Cup. They look like the 05-06 Ottawa Senators, a team that looked great on paper, but didn't have the goaltending it needed to make any noise.
I would not be surprised if this was the year of the upset in the NHL. I think there will be more 5-8 seeds in the second round than there will be 1-4 seeds.
