I hope Dorion can create some sort of market for his players being traded within Canada. A really good GM can drive up the price by eating cap space and using the lack of two-week quarantine in Canada as an advantage.

Dzingel and Anisimov are good UFA options for Toronto who are looking for a forward. Tierney is a cheap option if the Leafs need to move some salary in order to sign a goalie next year and Reilly the year after. And there's the option of Toronto re-acquiring Connor Brown too - since he's apparently the type of guy you need in the playoffs (won't be in the playoffs as a Senator...)

Coburn and Reilly are serviceable depth defencemen, and Dzingel could be a good addition in Edmonton with that speed.

Gudbranson could be a good d-man in Winnipeg. They're physically weak on the right side.

Watson could be a cheap replacement for a team looking for an energy guy too.

Ottawa likely not to fetch any big returns but a few teams may be interested

You’re showing your hopes of us trading Watson and Brown.

I like both and unless there’s an overpayment, I don’t see why we would trade Brown (or even Watson, he’s good for this team)

I think Dzingel could interest some. I hope someone is interested in Gudbranson but I’ll be surprised if we recoup what was paid for him.
Doubt there’s really a market for Anisimov. The type of player he is right now is a guy most team have on the taxi squad.

I don’t know that the sens are interested in parting ways with Tierney. Maybe though.

I’d have to check the exact rules but you can’t just trade everybody as you need eligible players to expose to Seattle. Tierney will be one of those guys

Yeah that was pretty pathetic. What made it worse was Matthew Tkachuk not giving it to Brady. He shot it down the ice

We can expose Matt Murray haha.

Sometimes I think the analysts watch us on this site. I posted about Ottawa increasing value by trading within Canada and heard to the guys on TSN talking about this exact thing a few hours later.

Re-sign Dzingel or trade him?

Yeah, it's a good question. I guess it depends on what they could get for him at the deadline. Could always be one of those guys traded at the deadline and then resigning with his old team (us) in the off season.

I'd lean towards keeping him assuming he's been good in the room. Just need to make sure he fits in the projected lineup for next year. I love the idea of having him on the 3rd line.

I think he’s perfect for the team on the 3rd line. Even on then4rth he would fit well as he tends to create his own chances. We’re likely to have 4 lines that can score next year also so wherever he winds up he’ll have opportunities but it’s ideally the 3rd line.

I wonder what contract he’s looking for. I can’t imagine it’s much under the present COVID constraints on budget. He’d likely be over the moon on a two year deal I imagine.

I’m sure (and hope) the org will do it’s due diligence on what he’d be happy to sign for and then value that against what a team might offer. If someone is willing to offer a 2nd rounder you likely have to take it though. It’s not done often but you could always offer him a contract in the summer.

Good to hear, I always enjoy watching Formenton play. Such a poop disturber. He had a game recently for Belleville where he took 5 or 6 minor penalties Laugh1

So Logan Brown has a "bad back" and he's still going to be out a week or two even though Belleville is down forwards and going to have to play with just 10 in their next game.

Probably past time we moved on from Logan.

I was so hopeful for the guy but this might be the end of the line for him here in Ottawa. He hasn't performed while healthy and he's always injured when needed.

even since the beginning of the season it's sounded more like Dorion was doing a sell job on Logan.
I'm not even sure there's legitimate interest out there for him.

if anything, he might wind up a throw-in into some deal because a team takes a hell mary as part of a bigger deal.

he's likely not worth more than a mid-round pick at this point.

Yeah, me too.  I also think he might sign a lower contract with short term as a show me.

Ouch, watson out potentially long term.  They'll know Wednesday.   One hell of a good 4th liner and pker, big blow.

Agreed. You can probably throw him in a trade with someone like Brannstrom to get an upgrade, but Ottawa could easily lose the trade if Brown turns things around
