He's a prospect that we can include in a trade that no one would be overly upset losing. With jbd, Thomson, Sanderson, kleven and dare I say Roger in the pipeline, and with zub, mete nd Chabot hopefully being around for a while brannstrom becomes disposable.

Agree but not for Strome - would trade him for Monahan, Eichel etc

If they’re not gonna get a good #1 or #2 C, I think Mete would be the one to go in a minor move. Probably doesn’t have value.

I’m gonna cry if we trade Brannstrom for Strome. I just don’t see him as our best long term option.

There’s no way Eichel would be happy in Ottawa. It’s bringing in a problem. The kid sees himself in a big American market where he can rake in sponsorship money. Not the kanata Ford kind.

Monahan is more a likely target but still wishful thinking. The more I think about Calgary they more they are likely to be idiotic and keep their top stars and trade Tkachuk.

I’m not 100% convinced that part of the problem in Calgary doesn’t lie in Gaudreau or Monhanan. I’d hope they do their due diligence on who is the problem in that room.

Honestly I think the most likely trade candidate is Henrique. Not my preferred candidate by any stretch but maybe one of the cheapest to acquire. I actually think it’s likely already being discussed and the price of the trade is likely the sticking point. They’re probably trying to unload one of Pierre’s mistakes on them like Josh Brown.

How do we feel about Tomas Hertl?

Apparently Holden is known for playing on his off side. Maybe he gets paired with Brann. Still not sure what happens with Mete

I’d take him any day of the week. But I don’t want to pay anything big for him unless he comes with an extension.
I also don’t know that the Sharks want to pet with him.

It’s unclear what San Jose’s plan is. I’m not getting The impression they’re throwing their hat in and going for a rebuild. They also didn’t do anything massive in the off season to retool.

It’s a nice dream and one I could get on board with over most of the options we’ve previously listed like monahan but he’s got to come with a contract extension. And if he does, which I doubt it’s even a possibility, expect it to cost our 1st, Brannstrom and some other good prospect. (Doubt they’d go for Logan brown)

Mete was good. I don’t see why the org wouldn’t keep him. I could see them try and part ways with other guys before him.

If werenski can get over 9.5mill a season I’m not surprised it’s likely gonna take the same thing to nail Tkachuk long term. Different position but same importance to a small market team.
Craziness.

A DJ Smith team won't play with two 5'8" D in the lineup. If Dorion is extended I don't see Brannstrom (proudest day as a GM) being the one move unless the return is significant.

The one mistake we don't want to make is hanging on to a prospect too long until he has almost no value, like Logan Brown. If they don't think Brannstrom is it, best to trade him before jerking him around, benching him, back and forth from the minors, etc.

Is Max Domi a DJ Smith type of player ? Could be a decent 2C

That thought once occurred to me. Especially when underperforming in Montreal. But when he didn’t perform well either in Columbus I gave up. If you’re not suited to the style in Columbus then I have my doubts on wether he can do well under DJ

I was wondering if the sens might offer a short 1 or 2 year contract to Palmieri. Especially since we moved on from Dadonov. That could be money well spent IMO

I also wonder if Demers or Vatanen would be candidates the sens could be looking at for the right side.
Vatanen didn’t have a good year but could be an interesting candidate to bounce back. Wouldn’t want to offer much term but on a one year he could prove interesting and could also be flipped at the deadline for some decent assets if he had a good year.

Not really relevant to anything, but I remember at rookie camp one year (it was probably the rookie tourney) at the Sensplex, that Tie Domi was up chatting with Bryan Murray and Pierre Dorion.

Victor Mete with a 1 year 1.2mill contract. Nothing to complain about here. Very solid 3rd pairing Dman that can move up to the top 4 if needed.

Brannstrom is waiver exempt this year. The Mete signing paves the way for him to start in Belleville and get top-pairing minutes in all situations, round out his game. I am assuming they will move Mete at the deadline (if not earlier) and then Brannstrom will come up to stay.

I dunno. Brannstrom had 5 points in 4 games in Belleville and 8 in 10 in the Swiss league last season. He almost scored at 0.5 ppg at the NHL level and was a + on a bad team. I'm not so sure he needs more time to develop in the AHL. His issues are his size which he can't really work on in the AHL. Sure he can get better at d-zone positioning but he's never going to be a defensive specialist. He needs PP time on unit 2 and needs to play with someone who allows him get involved offensively and can cover him defensively. Zaitsev, Zub or Holden are all good options.

To me the Mete contract is 100% tradeable. He probably would have gotten less in arbitration. I imagine they got the deal done so he could be moved?

I also like the idea of the Sens picking up Domi while his value is low.

You know who I’ve come around to and who the sens should be targeting while the value is low? Kuznetsov.
Apparently no one is interested in picking up his tab and he’s available for a song and dance.
It’s 7.8 for 4 more years. That’s a guy that can play the first line or second line and will produce if paired with good wingers.
