You are allowed to be late. You just can’t enter twice. All this is in the rules.

Islanders showing how and why they were 7th best in the league halfway through the season. Up 2 games on Washington.

Cap hell for them next year. They won’t be as good.

I wouldn't say cap hell. They have pulock and barzal to resign but have about $12M or so in upcoming UFAs with Matt Martin being the only Ufa I'd consider bringing back . They may need to move someone off their roster just for cap space but they have some good prospects in their system that may be NHL ready sooner than later .

I think we're setting the beginning of the end of teams like Pitt, Washington, Nashville and we know San Jose is a dumpster fire. Lesson learned. Signing players 30+ is a recipe for disaster long term

You are forgetting about Toews.

All 3 of Barzal, Pulock and Toews are due huge raises. They will lose one and whatever they lose will create a big hole.

Even with Trotz being the best coach in the league and Sorokin being the winner he is, I think the Isles miss the playoffs

To be more specific, he opted out to be with his family. I think they have a baby. No other details were given. Really odd timing, hopefully everything is OK.

He's still under contract for one more year.

If there's not something wrong that's really selfish. What a time to opt out.

I’m the opposite. I took the Isles as the slight dog.

The Carlson and Backstrom injuries are killer, especially against a Trotz defensive system

Carlson is playing. Not a great start for Washington but good to keep it only 1-0

Ovi, Crosby and Malkin are well past their prime. Years and years of late draft picks. Both are prime to start their rebuilds

No. The Isles are a good team with incredible coaching and only starting falling in the standings during the year due to key injuries to their main defensive dmen. I mentioned this during the year too.

too early to say. I think a lot of these Caps are not on board with this restart.
