I used to think Petan could be a top 6 player. I’m not so sure anymore. He’d have to be an afterthought to a trade. Like an add on.

Our defense really stinks and Hainsey is part of the problem. That said, I don't think he'd fetch much in a trade, and we need bodies to finish the year.

Exactly. We don’t want to empty Belleville out. Plus he is what he is. And we won’t be a good team next year.

I still question why we traded DeMelo for a 3rd. Who do we have next year playing the right? Zaitsev, Jaros and Hainsey/UFA Dman looking for any job? That’s not a good outlook.
You could say Brannstrom but coaching hasn’t been very receptive to that idea.

Kovalchuk just got traded to Washington for a 3rd rounder. I don't see any way we get a 1st for Pageau.

Totally different. Kovalchuk still has a question mark over his head on wether he’ll be effective.
Pageau is a straight up playoff performer that will make you more dangerous on the PK and 5 on 5. I mean we know what he brings.
For a serious contender Pageau is a much better acquisition.

Pageau is twice the player Kovalchuk is in my opinion.

I'm also scared about the return for pageau.

My guess is florida will be active today. They need a push and it's a huge embarrassment for their franchise if they can't catch the Leafs.

I’ve fully accepted the fact that Yzerman will get more for Glendening than Dorion will for Pageau.

Apparently Pageau wants 5 mil for 5-6 years. I think that might be too much.

Everyone is entitled to like Dorion if they want. But he is not a competent GM in my mind and I’d rather have Dale Tallon. That’s how inept I feel Dorion is.

And I think it is likely they found out hours ago.L because if it was months ago as you suggest, Dorion is a bigger fool than imagined for not trading Pageau early when he was hot.
