Yes, Ennis and Anisimov did great on the PK. But take this W with a grain of salt. Backup goalie, and only 3 lines from the Van's normal roster played. Still let up 40+ shots.

Ah, we're not gonna win many games this year, I wouldn't worry about that. Just the development of Tkachuk into a world class pain in the arse, maybe a Chabot 60 point season, seeing the kids start to develop here and in the AHL. Seeing if Ennis might be a guy that could get back to ~40 points if he stays healthy.

What kind of player is Colin White offensively.

Is Anisimov as good as he's shown, or is this 'pre-season Anisimov'?

Zaitsev handles the puck like a grenade at times, then uses his speed to create changes other times.

Is Pageau the forgotten man coming back from injury - is he primed for a solid season?

Can Duclair pot 20? How about 25? How about 30?

You know, the usual with a rebuilding team.

Remember when we got Anisimov for Smith lol?

I think it's reasonable to assume Nick Paul is a fringe NHLer/career AHLer type guy. Not bad to have some depth in the organization, but can't be expected to fill a regular NHL role.

He's done. At this point he may as well dress on the 3rd or 4th line and let someone else develop chemistry with Brown.

I was thinking about this on my drive into work this morning.

The Sens should follow the Spezza model and have Brown play in the AHL for at least half a season. Brown is the exact same type of player as Spezza. He's a slow skater, not always engaged physically, not competitive in the corners, poor defensively, etc. I am not sure those elements of his games will ever improve drastically, but his hockey IQ, passing, and experience against pros can. Spezza dominated in the AHL for half a season then came into the NHL and put up really good numbers. I'd expect Brown to do the same.

his speed is going to have to improve. it's not the same NHL as it was 15 years ago. he won't be able to keep pace with the league if he doesn't and it's not like pre-season is any indication of what the NHL is at midway through the season.

I'm not saying he can't do it, but he's gonna have to improve.

I get that but there is still value in having a large, pass-first center. He'll be key on the PP and will be the late man in zone entries coming right down the middle. I'd be more concerned with slow wingers if they can't forecheck and win board battles.

as it stands right now, I don't see him becoming our first Line C of the future.

part of me hopes we don't get the first overall(sacrilege, I know) so that we can go on to draft a C. there's a lot of guys that could fill that role one of Lapierre, Byfield of Perfetti... will be available when we draft.

I've been a big Brown supporter but I have to say his play head been underwhelming. No sense keeping him around as a PP specialist playing 7-10 minutes per game. He needs to play 22+at a high pace and improve his skating. A lot.

Put it this way, Boro has been *more* engaged, hustled more, skated faster and had a higher compete level. And he's got 4 points in 2 games with a +4 to die for it.

Boro really gets crapped on a lot by this fanbase. I've never minded him.

I corrected my post on Boro. Changed "not engaged" to "more engaged".

It's mostly the analytics crowd that defecates on him. His numbers are not good, but when the whole teams struggles, from the goal out, only the skilled players get a pass because of their scoring. He's out there to defend, the forwards sent helping matters, how Corsi numbers suck. The forwards then go on the PP and get their Corsi back up; Boro goes on the PK and his get worse.

In a limited role he can be very effective.

I have been one who has problems with Boro. The problem I see comes from they use him in a role that he's not suited for. He is a 6th 7th Defenseman but seems to bee leaned on in a way he shouldn't be. Like when we were trying to use Ceci as a shutdown guy. I feel like guys like Jaros can easily replace what Boro brings but better
