The highest the Sens can finish is 4th last place or 28th out of 31.

A top 3 pick is crucial to me. Once it gets beyond that, more questions enter the equation. It’s been that way since I made this thread and it still stands.

I'm okay with top 5 to be honest but I do agree that top three would be ideal.

If we do get Dhalin, the defensive left-side is pretty incredible with Chabot, Dhalin, Wolanin, Englund coming down the pipe.
The right side remains weak and while I think it is counter-intuitive to do this, I'd look at trading Ceci either for a top-six forward or RHD. All of a sudden Ottawa get's pretty nasty on paper.

Chabot-Karlsson
Dhalin-XXXXX
Wolanin-XXXX

Find two stay at home d-men (one could be Jaros or Harpur as the #6) and all of a sudden Ottawa is looking pretty slick from the back-end.

I’ve been dreaming about your exact post for weeks now, except for knowing that I want Wideman to be that 3rd right side defenceman with Wolanin. Go get a veteran shut down defenceman to play with Dahlin and we are golden. Luke Schenn is a UFA, overpay him and I’d be happy.

As much as Dahlin is highly touted he’s not starting as a top 4 D. Just ain’t happening.

Keeping pageau as a top 6C and white on your 1st like also scares me.

I’ll leave out my usual kalrsson won’t be back line.

Burrows > Dahlen and odds say Dahlin too.

I think we are going to end up picking 5th as three teams will win the lottery and pass us. Three of Chicago, Detroit, NYR and NYI.

Most hockey people say Dahlin is top 4 right off the bat. JGP as a second line centre is terrifying.

I agree that Dahlin can be top 4 right away, but after last night, I’m done talking about him until the lottery results. Pageau as our 2C isn’t ideal from a traditional perspective, given the success of Vegas in the regular season and I suspect their success in the playoffs and maybe Stanley cup will change peoples opinion? Give me a team of 12 Pageau’s and 6 Wolanin’s and two Anderson’s (one to rotate in for his up and down seasons), and we can win a Cup too.
I made that lineup without the return we get from my wishful Ceci trade. Chlapik looked good last night.

The Sens are allowed to get two points as long as they don’t come from a ROW and still finish 2nd last. I think we are good.

I see Brown or Chlapik fitting in as 2C unless someone is brought in for Ceci (or Hoffman). Ottawa's problem has always been putting players where they shouldn't be. The reality is Pageau is a 3C. Nothing more, nothing less. If you look at the team from bottom up it's pretty easy to identify where gaps are.

For sure, if Ceci is traded, you add to the trade and give them whatever it takes to get a legit 2C.

Meh...I wouldn't have wanted to talk about him even if we finished last. Last is only about a 20% shot at the top pick.

Everyone keeps getting points ahead of us, it is perfect. Pittsburgh has a lot to play for tonight. I like our chances at staying in 30th. I’m confident we can suck some more.

Who do people want to take at 2 or 3 if we get one of those?

Diddle, I really have no idea.  There's a pretty diverse group of players after Dahlin....Tkachuk (LW) has 8G in 38GP the NCAA, but he's a big winger who people rave about, Svechnikov (RW) has 40G in the OHL, Zadina has 44G in the Q, Bouchard (D) has 87 points in the OHL and is pretty big, and Boqvist (D) is a small Swedish defenceman who seems a lot like Karlsson.....  I'd be happy with any of these guys.  It's so hard to compare them.
