I'm not necessarily a fan of Sharp but if we got a LW, I would bet that Hoffman would make a real nice RWer.

I'd rather get Hansen for sure, or even Eberle if that were somehow possible.

With a well-rested Anderson and and a not-overused Karlsson (did you see that rush last night? rocket boosters!) the Sens could win the first two rounds. (And maybe Ryan can finally learn how to spell i-n-t-e-n-s-e with his month off.) Then you face the "winner" of the Metropolitan, or what's left of them.

Is this the year to mortgage your future on some high-priced rentals? No, absolutely not, since that future includes four of the top-fifty players not playing in the NHL. But with insurance picking up 40% of CMac's salary the Sens are definitely in a position to make an not-insignificant splash at the deadline.

Those guys are all legit. They'd add another weapon and move guys down the lineup really well.

Eberle is a bigger deal because of the money commitment. Hansen would cost...a 1st probably.

The rocket-booster rush by Karlsson was amazing. It's not something we see from him too often any more, but it's nice to see he's still capable of it when the opportunity presents itself.

So I think what I'd like to see the Sens do is bring in somebody with two or three years left, and not just a rental.

How does the Karlsson rush connect to the getting more than a rental?

Not at all...I was just replying to one of Prags' random thoughts and then providing my own random thought.

Hansen you could get for less I would think.
I wouldn't mind making a splash for a player with term left. Not really into the idea of a rental unless it costs us less than a 3rd rounder.

If by some miracle we made it past the 2nd round this, I would hope, would fill the pockets of Melnyk enough for him to say all in with acquiring the right players regardless of money for next season.

Yeah that's what I think too. Get a player with term this year and if we somehow through making it through a couple rounds show that we can compete then next year might be the year you get a couple of rentals for a long stretch in the post season.

Not at all random. I was tying in how Karlsson is not being over-used this year and can you imagine if he unloads one of those rushes in the second/third round when everyone else is playing at half speed?

I bet a team in the hunt gives them a 1st for Hansen. Or a 2nd + decent prospect.

He had a good year last year but he's a 15-20 goal scorer. Nothing to write home about IMO. Definitely not my preferred target. He's a third liner on an ok to decent team.

Very versatile though, he can play top line, all the way down. And an excellent two way player. I think he plays an excellent PK.

Anyone talking about the possibility of trading for Eaves?

Nope.

For some other teams maybe. Teams that have little cap space. I'd be very weary to trade for Eaves. He's having a stellar year in Dallas but his production could easily dry up if he was moved to another system. The fact that's he's cheap will also likely boost up the cost of acquiring him. To me it's a pass. Not mentioning that he's a pure rental.

Condra plays an excellent PK. We should just get him...

Sens should not be looking to bolster their bottom six. That's why we got Wingels. I'd look to improve on Ceci and try to acquire a top-six forward with term. I am not saying get rid of Ceci, but I am not comfortable with him in my top-four right now. He's performing well below expectations IMO. As for a top-six, Dzingel and Ryan are not top-six players. Dzingel is over-performing and Ryan is greatly under-performing.

New Jersey has some interesting pieces and given the state of their team, a pick, prospect, and salary relief could go a long way. Palmieri makes a ton of sense to me if he's available. I'd even take a flyer on Henrique though he's a lefty.

Yeah, he's having his first good season in 10 years and also on a pretty offense-oriented team. Don't think he'd be a good fit here.

Agreed. I think we need to focus on a big acquisition. Although I doubt they are looking to shop palmieri. If anything I think NJ is trying to shop UFA's and hope they can retool through the draft.
I think when they made that trade for Hall it meant they weren't interested in the full rebuild. Although you could say that they would test it outnfor a few years and if it didn't work out they might be able to trade Hall for more than they gave up to get him. Which if you ask me is quite possible.
