Watched pretty much all of it on tape delay. Caught up to live for the last five minutes. Vancouver is a desperate team. After playing the night before (and playing pretty hard) that was an unexpected effort. And they came really close to tying it near the end. Except for the last ten seconds or so, they just kept passing it around the perimeter like they did not want to shoot or had no idea of the time left.

Glad this game is over. Now shuffle off to Buffalo, then back home to host the Preds before completing the home-and-home with the Sabres.

That was a pretty solid defensive effort, which sure is something we didn't get to say last season. Karlsson was fantastic in his own end for the most part. I don't remember seeing us block so many shots.

Vancouver is quite bad, so this wasn't exactly a stiff test, but a W is a W. Nice to see Condon get the SO too...he didn't have much to do, but made some big stops in the 3rd when things started getting hairy.

He had a surprising amount of work on the third. There was a shift late in the second, maybe five minutes to go, where the Sens totally dominated. I thought that was the wall for the Canucks and we would cruise from there. But they outplayed is in the third. Condon earned his first start right there.

What's wrong with the power play at home?

Although we gave up fewer than 30 shots, I'm not sure that 27 allowed to a team that just played the night before and had to travel in from out of town is that great. I believe the Sens were ahead 18-15 after 2 periods so that means they gave up 12 in the third. To a tired team.

I get it that Vancouver was a desperate team. But the Sens also cannot afford not to play desperate hockey. True, they blocked a ton of shots so I suppose that speaks to the level of desperation, but I also saw some plays where they were out-hustled by Vancouver to loose pucks.

I'll take the W. Hopefully Stone and Wideman are back in Buffalo. As well as Claesson and Boro may have played, I prefer having a rightie and a leftie playing their strong sides.

The third was white knuckle a lot of the time, Vancouver just went for it.

At home and away? We've scored once at home and twice away and are currently ranked 25th. I thought with Boucher there they would be a little better, even though it may take time to learn his system.

the PP has been generating a lot of chacnes and shots. They are just unlucky. Goals will come.

If anyone knows what's up with the PP it'll be Boucher.  Bad entries are hurting badly.
