Anderson will be a $4.2M cap hit and $3.7M salary next season. I could see Las Vegas going for that.

As for Methot, the Sens would love for someone to take him. Pageau and Dzingel need new deals next season (same for Kelly/Neil, Smith, Puempel, Pyatt but I'm not convinced any of them are coming back) so there's another $2.5M more; then the following year you have Turris/Stone that will likely get a combined $5-6M raise, plus Ceci ($1M) a #1 goalie (if it's not an internal promotion will likely be more than Anderson's current salary), Wideman and a backup. And by that point Chabot is looking for a spot, as are Englund and Claesson and others. This team will look very different in two years' time and I don't know if there will be room for Methot.

I also don't think they would mind it if Lazar got plucked because, let's face it, he has not panned out the way they had hoped and White is the straight-up replacement for what Lazar was supposed to be.

I don't see a replacement for methot internally for next year and that should worry the Sens bUT again I doubt he's gonna be their target.
I doubt they'd be happy if lazar was the target. He still has value and I'm sure they'd rather male full on that value and not simply lose it to expansion. Still too early to tell what dzingel will be but he might turn into something more productive than lazar. It will be interesting to see.

If they sign Lazar to a two-way contract would that protect him? I am not sure how the expansion draft works...

I am not sure how many players they can protect but my list would include: Ryan, Turris, Stone, Hoffman, Brass, Karlsson, Methot, Ceci

This leaves Dzingel, Phaneuf, Smith, Lazar, Anderson, Pageau as key pieces that could be had.

No one will touch Phaneuf due to his contract length and cost. Anderson won't be taken due to his age. That leaves Smith, Pageau, Dzingel and Lazar as key pieces. I can see Smith and/or Pageau being plucked which would suck, but as mentioned, we do need to make room for Brown and White at some point.

Phaneuf is Methot's internal replacement, if he gets plucked. That second pairing might be a little exciting, with Chabot/Englund/Claesson fighting off Borowiecki for the privilege of playing with Ceci.

Why would you leave Anderson unprotected? He has a $4.2M cap hit but only $3.7M in salary and that's very reasonable for a #1 and it's only for one more season. Also, since you are protecting a goalie anyway, who do you think is more likely to be taken?

Why not just protect Methot then? And add Andy to the list of protected players. That's fine. Again, unsure of the rules on how many players can be protected.

I still say Wideman is more likely to get taken than anyone who may be left unprotected.

Who gives a Dung about Wideman though in the grand scheme? Methot is who I'd take if I were Las Vegas, even if he pouts and is upset about leaving Ottawa for Las Vegas (semi-kidding).

Methot is pretty much the only player I'm worried about - and even then, easy come, easy go.

Find me where I said let's send Pyatt to the NHL. At one point I thought him and Blunden were going to make Ottawa.

I though this was a pretty interesting read. Methot is there.

Interesting. He's there as the top pairing guy. With his cap hit that's the only way he makes it on that roster.

This is a joke. I don't know who and how they conducted this but it's not a fair representation of who is out there.
