Am I missing something here?

Stone hasn't passed the baseline test yet, but I guess it's assumed that he will by Friday. I have no idea about the tinted visor...I know he wore one at practice yesterday, but they didn't say he'd be keeping it permanently. I doubt he will.

That's what they said this morning on TSN1200. They are reporting that Stone has said the tinted visor will be worn from now on.

Alrighty, well there you go. I find that strange as well, but all that matters as far as getting back to playing is passing the baseline test.

I thought you had to be symptom free for a period of time as well. Not my brain or my life but, still seems odd.

I'm not positive how it works, but I think you can only take the baseline test after being symptom free.

Paul will start in the AHL which will be good for him. He isn't behind Dzingel and Varone for long term.

As for Stone, he's fine.

yeah i heard about the visor as they were talking about it at the game last night. sounds a bit odd since it is a symptom. weird.

Lots of players wear them after concussions. Also, light sensitivity does not mean you have a concussion. Concussions are often overblown these days.

I'm just saying that light sensitivity is a concussion symptom and if he's not symptom free he shouldn't be playing right?

There's an article up on TSN that states that he apperently might keep playing with it even when he's fine as the glare is just too bright and arenas are getting brighter... So that's the explanation put out.

On another note, the sens have inked maxims lajoie to a 3 yr ELC. Guess they really liked him.

So Ovechkin has been playing concussed all these years? Maybe he wore it first time after he got hit and was, like, "Hey, this is kinda cool and I don't have to squint like I used to before."

The optics of it make it seem like Stone is wearing the tinted visor due to the common concussion symptom of light sensitivity and he's said he WILL continue to wear it after. The implication is that he's still suffering from a symptom of a concussion.

I liked some aspects of the game last night. I thought they really pressured the Jets into making mistakes. What I didn't like is dumb penalties to McCormick costing us the game and I'm still really unimpressed with Bartkowski - although he was better, I guess.

You can see where Boucher is going with his system and trying to implement and attack style of play, and you can see where he's asking one d-man to step up into the neutral zone to seal the wall and make the opposing team dump it. What can happen though, and we saw it last night, was a player can chip the puck to himself (Ehlers) and then try to dance around the D-man, which resulted in a horribly timed penalty for Bartkowski. Obviously, when the game starts for real, that would be Phaneuf or Methot or someone good, but still, they're not exactly fleet of foot.

I feel bad for Puempel. I don't see why the Sens would bother having him take one of the spots on what could be a huge opening night roster of 23. He's okay, but you're not giving him a spot over Dzingel or Varone right now, why would you? Optics? No chance IMO, not with Dorion and Boucher taking over fresh. I mean...he was good for us at the end of the season 2 years ago, but it seems like he's really digressed, maybe they see something in him that we don't, but I doubt it.

Paul looks like he's sealed his fate as well. Nothing wrong with him having a year in Bingo under Kleinendorst.

Pyatt, Pageau, Dzingel, Varone, Kelly, Neil with Smith moving up to the top 6 for the rest of the forwards?

Hoffman - Turris - Stone
Smith - Brassard - Ryan
Dzingel - Pageau - Varone
Pyatt - Kelly - Neil

?

Smith won't be top 6. It will be Dzingel or Varon with Brassard

Who knows? I'd probably put Smith with Brassard and Ryan and put Dzingel with Pageau and whoever. Better the guy who scored 20 and has some physicality going for him than a rookie, but then, I really like Dzingel, so I wouldn't be upset.

It's impossible to say one way or the other though.

I think varone might get a shot but its hard to say if it's just because we are playing weaker opposition or can he be a consistent NHL player. I think they will keep him around for the start but he could play himself back to the AHL if he fails to keep the intensity. Dzingel on the other hand possesses the kind of speed that Boucher is looking to see out of the player. i could see him staying up with the team when lazar comes back(and i'm hoping lazar gets sent to bingo on conditioning but won't be back till he can find his scoring touch TBH)

kind of disappointed with Paul right now. expected him to perform much better but maybe he needs to get going in bingo. he changed the way he trained this summer, was that part of the reason? did he expect a spot? hard to tell. you definitely do not write him off but he's got to go to bingo and become an important player down there. not a bad thing for the bingo sens if you ask me.

as for smith i'd rather see him play with pageau. they work well together. let dzingel play with brass and ryan. that speed will pay off for that line.

You can't put Varone or Dzingel in the top six. You need size and some experience, and that's Smith. Smith is a LH who can take a draw when called upon, so I would not be against putting him on Turris' line.

So Puempel finally did something to keep himself in Ottawa -- he got injured.
