Yzerman is pretty much my favourite player ever. Up until recently, I thought he was doing a good job as Tampa's GM, but now with the Drouin thing and Stamkos thing, I just don't know. I guess I'll have to withhold judgement until the summer some time.

If Tampa wins the Cup, cool.

If they don't, then why didn't he improve his team towards the deadline, when he had a chip he could've played (Drouin)?

If they lose Stamkos for nothing and don't win the Cup, well, that's an epic failure.

He couldn't have been that anxious to add for the stretch if he did nothing. There were deals to be made, I'm sure. Maybe he alienated the league's GMs like he seems to have done with his players?

I thought the same thing. They needed to make a few moves to take a run at the East, even if Washington's the better team, anything can happen. Pretty bad deadline day for TB.

Agreed. As Tim mentioned, if they don't win the Cup and then they lose Stammer, this is going to come back to haunt them.

you went back too far. You should of only evaluated it under the Murray leadership since that is under this regime.

Murray took over just before the 2007 draft. Assuming 3rd rounders take 4+ years that means 2008 (Smith), 2009 (nobody), 2010 (Culek), 2011 (nobody). Really pushing it to 2012 you add Driedger and Maidens. So Smith and Driedger. While you know I love reminding every one that Driedger has a career NHL SV% of .000 his .903 in the AHL is OK but not earth shattering. Too early to decide on Driedger so that leaves Smith out of two picks, and if you throw in Maidens (who definitely didn't turn out) that, again, leaves you with 1 out of 3 picks.

The numbers stand.

But they'll still have Drouin Smile

Agreed. Regardless, if Prince wasn't in their plans, getting a 3rd for him is fine, especially considering Pirri (on pace for 36 goals last year) got a 6th.

Yep.  A 3rd for Prince is larceny in comparison to that weird Pirri deal.

There's some rumblings that Pirri's a pain in the arse. Some Chicago fans were saying he was very disruptive in the room, from that they heard. Not sure if that's accurate, but that would explain it a little, I guess.

What was your point again, I genuinely forgot.

I find that happens a lot if you get drawn into a discussion with Walter. It was something about the value of the 3rd rounder we got for Prince.

The idea was that they traded an NHL player for a 3rd, which is unlikely to become an NHL player. He's saying we sold too low.

I guess we'll see. The Isle have him doing drills on their first line! with Tavares and Strome ... we'll find out what young Mr. Prince is made of pretty quickly Smile

Thanks, I remember now. I'd rather have a 3rd pick than keep a fringe NHL who doesn't have top 6 potential. I'll keep drafting hoping to find a gem when I can replace a guy like Prince with any other prospect or cheap veteran UFA. Now if you think Prince has top 6 potential then keep him, but has nowhere near top 6 potential IMO.

He will put up points with them but so did Matt Moulson. Won't make him a true top 6 forward, it used to be called the Mario effect.

To be continued when? And exactly what are the parameters here? Are you saying evaluate all of Murray's third rounders at year N+4 (or later) to determine what percentage turns into NHLers?
