The only guy knocking Claesson off the roster is Chabot, and that would be stupid.  Another year in the Q should be the plan.
q is too weak. I'd start him for nine games at least. He could potentially play with phaneuf if all things went well

Bad move for them. They're not contenders IMO

It's really tough to understand you these days....are you ok?

And I don't see how it's a bad move.  They're in win-mode right now as much as you can.  Next up, Dan Hamhuis I bet.

I don't think adding a rental ever works and it's extremely unlikely they'll win the cup in back to back years. They have a weak forward corps after their top two lines and a had this pair.

Is easily take kings, blues, or caps ahead of them right now

I really think it's Washington's year, but anything can happen.

While I'd also probably give him 9 games, I think another year in the minors is probably a good idea simply because D don't seem to do too well when they're rushed (except Ekblad).

Can't argue with that haul for the Jets.

Better than nothing and not much more than that.

It was a good move for both considering he's a rental.

Vermette was a rental and it worked.

Don't forget that Ladd was there only 5 years ago and won a Cup with them. He is a known commodity and he'll be instantly integrated in the locker room.

They absolutely do not have a weak forward corps. Get real. Best line in hockey. True, a one-line team never does well in the playoffs and who knows how Kane's Russians will do in the post season. But with the addition of Ladd they now have a potent second line (Ladd and Hossa, centered by Toews), and that may well be their top line in the post-season.

Where they are lacking is on the back-end.

They're not timid about addressing a need so I fully expect them to add to that D. And they'll probably recover part of what they spent in assets when they do their annual clean-up of the roster by trading away a couple of players.

Yeah, allegedly the Hawks are in full pursuit of Hamhuis and/or Russell.

I don't know if they have cap space, they'll likely have to move some salary. They've already done their burying and waiving. And didn't they win the Cup last year playing primarily 4 D?

They have pretty much ZERO cap space, but they always seem to find a way. You're right though, they pretty much might be tapped out at this point.

Watch them "loan" a player to a Euro league.

I'm sure they could do something creative with the other team retaining salary if Chicago added assets to an offer....there's always a way.
