In terms of finances, bringing a player now shouldn't affect the finances that much for the rest of the way. This off-season, we're saving money with Phillips and neil coming off the books.

They need to bite the bulllet and just buy out both cowen and greening, it's become pretty apparent they're untradeable at this point. And they should not be taking up any more roster spots.

and call me crazy, but I have a really good feeling that the sens will sign Louie Eriksson this off-season. He's buddy of karlsson's and I'm sure sens brass wants to make EK happy to be in Ottawa.

I made some changes.  I think all we need is a second-pairing left-hand-shooting defenseman to play with Ceci.  I have full confidence in #5 being a solid 2nd pairing defenseman but he needs some veteran help now.  And Borowiecki-Wideman is fine as a third pairing, with Claesson or Wikstrand as the 7th.

Up-front, by all accounts White will be NHL ready next season and a 4th line center job would not be asking too much.   Michalek can play right wing, can't he?  At $4M per he should be on the third line and then one of Prince/Puempel to fill out that 4th line.

Well, the correct thing to do with Cowen would be to waive him. If he gets claimed, fine. If he actually goes through, maybe he can actually fix his game in the AHL. But this would involve eating his salary in the minors.

I dunno, I could go with that but I'd prefer Ladd personally.

im not necessarely interested in rushing white. And to be honest he's the kind of player that would be better off playing the AHL than fourth line duty in the Ottawa. Give him lots of minutes and offencive duties in bingo.

White won't be rushed. He'll be ready. He's better than zibanejad right now, most likely

Ya. Right. Sounds awfully similar to when everyone was saying Paul was ready to jump to the NHL. Yet he's doing average in Bingo. I'd say you let him take his game through the different levels instead of rushing yet another prospect.

We've developped one good defenseman in 8 years.
If you want to fix the Senators, you know where to start.

Start by claiming Luke Gazdic off waivers. Everything else will just happen.

It sounds Cussing depressing when you put it that way. But true. One legit top-4 dman.

Playing 4th line with Neil/Smith, I agree, better in the AHL. But playing 4th line with other top-9 type players is not rushing. By all accounts he's NHL ready but by playing him on the 4th line you are bringing him up slowly.

He took a while to get going but he's going pretty good now. Maybe Paul is more of a playmaker type player and would thrive with better supporting cast. You never know until you know. You know?

Umm, he meant Karlsson. Who is legit two-time Norris winner.

We've developed Ceci into a legit top-four. Boro is a legit bottom-pairing. We had Cowen/Wiercioch and *one of them* should have developed into a legit top-four but didn't. That's the issue right there. If not for those two we would have had Claesson already here and who knows where he'd be in his second full season. And perhaps Wikstrand would have been here as well if he didn't see that left-side logjam.

Honestly, everyone (me included) had really high hopes for Cowen (projected at one point to be a top-five pick) and Wiercioch (who had an amazing season in Denver as a sophomore). Various injuries have prevented them from progressing but the management stubbornly continued to hope. Time to cut our losses.

Or maybe it's true what's been recently said about Jason Smith.
