Yeah, the entire bottom six aside from Pageau and Smith. Very disappointed in Chiasson, Lazar has been ok, Neil has been ok, but along for the ride sounds about right.

That sort of thing catches up to a team real fast.

I think Zibanejad likes playing with Hoffman and Ryan. But how did Lazar set up Hoffman? More line juggling?

Boston los. Got a loser point but Sens up by 1 now. Detroit lost (bless you, Buffalo).

One up on Boston and one back of Detroit. Mind you Boston has 2 games in hand. Montreal can't be feeling all that comfy.

Overall, a very fine effort by our Senatores. I think we're gonna see BoroCop back on the blueline, and Cowen in the pressbox.

That Karlsson goal looked a lot like it was tipped by Zibanejad.  And it wasn't an accidental contact like they were saying on TGOR.  He saw the puck coming and reached with his stick.  As the puck passed his stick you can clearly see it change direction.  But it could have also skipped off the ice as he was reaching but missing it with his stick.  And maybe that's what he was telling Erik when he was doing the stone skipping on water signal with his hand.

But it sure looked like he tipped it (skip ahead to the final replay angle at around 1:04).

Sens had 8 shots in the second period, scoring on 4 of them. I believe they are still the highest-scoring 2nd period team.

So is that my "Eight" for the next stanza?

Anyway, lost in some of the frustration of poor Chiasson and crappy Cowen is a massive win last night, highlighted by our top 5 forwards and Karlsson absolutely killing it.

Dziurzinsky (did I spell that right?) has quietly had a solid showing his past few games. Think he's solidifying himself in ottawa.

Good victory. Anytime you can beat one of the best in the west, and one of the hottest teams to boot, should be a big morale booster after that 'slap in the face' on saturday night.

Good game for zibby, I've been saying he needs to be put back with ryan and hoffman. Stone with Turris works as well. If they can scratch cowen next game and get prince back in, I think they'll have a solid chance against the capitals.

Yeah, I want Boro back on D. And yes, Dizzy had a great game with 8 hits. Really softened up their D.

No, but close. Swap the last second i and the y.

Dizzy did a better job than Boro on the forecheck -- he was hitting the right people. When Zibanejad set up Karlsson's broken stick goal the defenseman who gave up the puck may have been influenced by earlier plays where he had to eat some glass.

And Boro will do a better job than Cowen -- I assume Cowen is the one coming out. On the other hand Cowen played pretty well when paired up with Ceci for a few games, so I'd be OK with sitting Wiercioch instead.

You assume he'll bench Cowen, but he hasn't lately, so perhaps Cowen has more rope than we think.

Solid hits too. That man finishes his checks.

I assume because Boro was skating with Wideman at practice; Cowen has been paired up with Wideman. However while Wiercioch was sitting Cowen was playing with Ceci.

Maybe the rules of not having sub-mediocre D are:

- do not play Cowen/Boro as a pairing; especially on the PK
- do not ask Boro to play anywhere but on the left side, 3rdpairing
- do not have both Cowen and Wiercioch in the lineup unless you are playing, umm,

There, I just saved Melnyk the $4M he would have had to pay for Murray to get a top-4 D-man. I'll take 5% up-front and the other 5% when we are back in second place in the Division.

Yeah, he was on line 3 for a while and I'm not a huge fan of that due to no offence, but when Boro takes his rightful place next to Wideman, I'm hoping he can be a semi-permanent 4th liner.

Dizzy knows the deal now, if he wants to be an NHLer, he must finish checks and chip in 5 goals a year, give or take.

Now...about Chiasson and his inability to score if his life depended on it...
