K let me clarify.  I'm not saying other teams didn't know about tarasenko's skill, not implying he was some diamond in the rough type of pick.  Everyone passed on him because they were worried about him staying in Russia.

I believe ppl in the business like Pierre Mcguire who say that St. Louis KNEW he would want to play in the NHL, not KHL.  Or at least they were confident they had the resources to make him stay in the NHL.

Revisionist history from McGuire, as usual.

That he is. Laugh1

From a common sense point, no one is trading their first round draft pick from the year before for a high risk guy. Pretty sure the blues knew they'd get him to stay.

WTH is *american* bacon?

So apperently the isles already want out of Barclay center. Stating the fans aren't happy about the view from some areas. Mmmmmhhhhh they could of known that before moving there. That is a Dung show and a half. Possible destination: queens or back to Long Island.... Laughing3

Back to Long Island and a projected 13,000 seats.

Interestingly the same guy that owns Barclays and the Nets is renovating the Nasau Coliseum. But the renovations will not increase the number of seats.

It's all about the stats:

http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/25489711/canadiens-pk-subban-responds-to-critics-look-at-the-production

"I've always been told that people can criticize you as a person and criticize your character," Subban said, via Sportsnet's Eric Engels. "The one thing that's very difficult to do when you perform is criticize your play.

"For me, my numbers speak for themselves. If anybody wants to criticize my play on the ice, well, I tell them to look at the numbers. Look at the production over the last six years. Find me a handful of defencemen that have done what I've done in this league. I play for the crest on the front of the jersey, but if people want to be critical, they don't need to say anything. Just look at the numbers. That'll shut ‘em up pretty quickly."

I think he's kinda right -- except for that last sentence.

http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/25489946/watch-penguins-kris-letang-penalized-for-taking-opponents-stick

The rule:

A player who has lost or broken his stick may receive a replacement stick by having one handed to him from his own players' bench; by having one handed to him by a teammate on the ice; or, by picking up his own unbroken stick or that of a teammate's from the ice. A player will be penalized if he throws, tosses, slides or shoots a stick to a teammate on the ice, or if he picks up and plays with an opponent's stick. A player may not participate in the play using a goalkeeper's stick. A minor penalty shall be imposed for an infraction of this rule.

OK, so when Bobby Ryan scored that goal with the wrong-sided stick is that not a penalty? Coincidental minors, actually, since the other guy grabbed his stick.

Or when Crosby picked up a team-mate's stick with the blade of his own stick and tossed it to him? That's a minor, too.

The fact that PK even said this about himself is just more fuel on the fire for people that don't like PK.

That's arrogant to say the least. And will definitely lead to criticism over his character .

Let me start by saying that I am *not* a fan of PK. I thought a year and a bit ago that he had matured somewhat but he has (IMO) regressed a little. Nevertheless I think he's got his head in the right space most of the time, and what he does with the kids, well, that's more than just great PR -- I think he truly enjoys it (and maybe he enjoys a does of hero-worship, too).

Now, when I first heard what Therrien said my immediate reaction (without having seen the play) was, wow, PK must have really screwed up. He must have done something selfish. But when I saw the play, all I saw was a skilled player trying to carry the puck into the offensive zone and getting held (a little) and tripped-up. There could easily have been a penalty on that play. Now, once PK loses the puck, there are still 4 other skaters out there who do *not* have the puck and are not being held/tripped to the ice.

Anyhow, that's how I see it. Therrien has let the pressure get to him and he lashed out at the only guy on that team who has continued to perform to his usual levels since Price went down. I always thought Therrien lacked class and composure; really could not handle the pressure in a graceful way. This just confirmed it.

Now, all that said, yeah, it was pretty arrogant of PK to say that (in his defense, it was not really a direct quote, but delivered through his agent).

Hextall won't confirm Giroux has a concussion. In other words, Giroux has a concussion.

Shawn Matthias traded for some C level prospect and a 4rth rounder. Boy are the leaves going to make out like bandits in the draft!Sarcasm
You think the leafs will get the league to extend them an extention on the maximum players limit?

Yeah, 4th rounder is OK for Toronto in that deal. Matthias was a free signing anyway, I think

Well, Pittsburgh won (Lehner lit up for 4 goals) and the Wings got a loser point. Tampa won but at least it was in regulation (over the Canes). Ottawa 6 points out of a playoff spot; 8 points out of 3rd in the Division. It's like running on a treadmill.

Ya, he was signed in FA. I liked the signing at the time. I thought he'd be ok for the Leafs.
