Well, it's a no-risk move really.  It's a one year, $1M deal.  If Richards can't get it together, they can just waive him.

Not even. It's pro-rated! They got a bargain.

Yeah, but that guy's bad news. Apparently into hard drugs like coke, a huge drinker/partier in Philly, then caught smuggling Oxy into Canada.

Bad egg, he's worth the 500K as a risk, I guess, but I'm glad it's not Ottawa.

So, I'm assuming the Tokarski trade means one of two things:

1) Nothing to see here. Tokarski gets waived and sent to the AHL.

2) Andersen is on the move.

Who needs a goalie? Arizona and Edmonton? Anyone else?

Gibson is hurt now. So Andersen will probably not be going anywhere

Gibson's apparently on the ice for Ducks practice today, so his injury can't be that bad. Maybe the Ducks are prepping for a bigger move, or (more likely), they are just building their goaltending depth a little.

Just like the Habs got a bargain in Semin. Also $1M, also "pro-rated", sort of, just on the other side.

Changes the entire dynamics in the east !!!

Just like getting DSP did for them last year....  That said, I actually like this deal for Montreal.

Frieberg is going from San Diego to St. John's. This is a nothing move for both clubs. He's a 5th round pick who's had a grand total of 6 games in the NHL and zero points. He's also undersized (stupid Habs).

Tokarski was already in the AHL, if not lower. They just got Scrivens to back up Condon, don't you remember?

I'm gonna say hold on on that one. Yes there is the history of what happened in philly but oxy isn't a recreational drug. It is possible that Richards became addicted to oxy by way of other painkillers due to injuries. You look at these guys play and the injuries they sustain and the meds they must be taking. It's entirely possible he got addicted over time and is having problems kicking it. Doesn't mean he's celebrating Saturday nights high as a kite on oxy.

Now that it's out in the open it may be easier to deal with it. I'm not gonna judge too hard on oxy when it comes to pro athletes that continuously sustain damage.

I have to disagree with you here. Lots of people get hooked on oxy through prescriptions, but lots and lots more encounter the drug illegally. There's a reason most drug stores won't stock the "medication." It isn't just addicts who are robbing drug stores; it's dealers too.

Regarding the second bolded section, it also doesn't mean that he's not celebrating Saturday nights high on oxy. The waters are a bit muddied when it's a prescription drug that we're talking about, but I don't think it's as cut-and-dried as you're making it out to be.

Regardless, we'll probably never know. Shrug

I think the point was that someone addicted to oxy is not the same as someone who likes to party a lot and uses coke or other "recreational" drugs. Once he gets himself weaned off he's not likely to fall back into it just because he has a couple of drinks at a party.

The score board at the Barclay's Center isn't centred over centre ice...it's over one of the blue lines. This is the Isles new home arena, for those not in the know.

My point is that, for many, oxy is a recreational drug. He may have gotten into using it after a prescription and he may not have.

The bottom line is Washington obviously feels Richard's has solved some of his problems. It's a no-risk move.

Per AJ Jakubec: Source tells me a deal involving Robby Fabbri for Jonathan Drouin is a serious possibility.

Fabbri is with the Blues.

Man, blues fans would be pissed. I've heard nothing but fabbri being the next coming since he was drafted.

I'd be surprised if the Blues traded Fabbri straight-up for Drouin. I'd rather have Fabbri.

Me too, although it's close. Drouin is going to be very good IMO.

Another can't miss stud from the past, Emerson Etem, on the block and possibly even traded today.
