Personally i. Ready to walk away from the whole legionnaire thing. I dont think the team shares my view though. I thought the prime minister mascots was a bad idea also. Just step away from the whole government town aspect. It's just freaking lame. It's got no guts.

or years, the KHL has been looking to grow and expand in an attempt to compete with the NHL and become a worldwide league. In 2012, former league president Alexander Medvedev mentioned the potential for the league to expand to 64 teams. Medvedev was replaced by Dmitry Chernyshenko in November 2014.

Ya great idea.

Might have our first chinese super hockey trained soldiers come out of china in a couple of decades.

It actually makes perfect sense. They have one team in the far east right now and it's kinda ridiculous how much it has to travel relative to the other teams. This expansion will open up new markets and eventually lead to a three-Conference alignment. You do realize that China is *HUGE*. Wang has been trying to promote hockey in China for decades. Wouldn't be surprised to see him buy a team there.

Now, as for the talent level, well, that will be diluted, at first, for sure. But it's not like they are going to grow to 63 teams overnight, if ever. I could see three Conferences with 16 teams in each. But that will take 5-10 years, minimum.

Quick, what's the national sport in China? It's a pretty ripe field.

It's now Beijing. "Peking" was how the French missionaries spelled it 300-400 years ago. And there is already a Beijing Ducks team according to the article (basketball). They should call themselves the Beijing Shaibas ("shaiba" is Russian for "puck" -- pronounced like shy-bah).

Not only in a playoff spot, it's not even a wildcard. They are tied in points with Arizona (2nd in Pacific), although the Coyotes have a game in hand. Oilers play the Rangers next and the Blueshirts are reeling -- 2-6-2 in their last 10 and they slid all the way to third in the Metropolitan. The Oilers could be 2nd in the Pacific if they get so much as a loser point tonight.

Centurion, not legionnaire. Regardless, nothing to do with the Senate other than both had a place in ancient Rome (but so did gladiators, slaves, eunuchs, etc.) I get what you're saying. I don't mind the 2D centurion -- much prefer it to the newer ones. I don't like the off-white of the heritage jerseys -- I get it, I just don't like it; looks like I spilled coffee all over my jersey.

Here's a variation on the "O" that's not bad:

Here's a slight variation on that:

Here's an interesting one:

IF/when they move to Lebreton they will definitely look at incorporating the Peace Tower into a new logo. Saying good-bye to the Palladium would also be a good time to say good bye to the centurion.

Hmm, I think it's ok. Has the Peace Tower and the Maple Leaf. Are you sure it's not the name on the jersey you're objecting to?

Anyhow, that's just a google image search. When they move I strongly believe that that will be the time to retire the centurion and incorporate the Peace Tower into the logo, somehow.

Then all those parliament building flybys in the intermissions will actually make sense.

Ditto. None of those look good to me.
The only centurion logo i like is the present one.

I do love the cream white. It's got a very vintage feel to it. But when you are vintage like walter you dont get that. Sarcasm

If the sens do remodel their jersey they mignt want to hire some proffesional marketing firm that has prior success in that departement as opposed to whatever they did with the roman numeral fiasco they just pulled.

Why must it have reference to peace tower, or the mape leaf? Why must it be so obsessed with those things. We dont all need to have a freaking maple leaf on ourjersey. Winnipeg just did it and i thought ut was a bad idea. Would we not find it ridiculous if hakf the teams south of the border incorporated the stars and stripes in their logo?

Can we just have something hockey related?

What is "hockey related" about a bear, buffalo, sabre-toothed tiger, a killer whale or a coyote? How about a Blackhawk chief or a fisherman in a rain poncho? A winged wheel, a winged letter (Flyers), a letter on fire, a letter inside another letter (Habs' CH)? Drop of oil, a swirl?

Might as well not call them the senators...

I do agree, we don't need a maple leaf on our logos. Plenty of Canadian teams around that do that. I view the Oilers and Sens that are the only ones who don't try to announce to the world 'hey look here! we're canadians! see how patriotic we are!'

That's why I'm even MORE for the roman legion/centurion stuff. Just tweak it.

Educational break:
I was curious so I looked it up. I think the word you were looking for was "legionary" (pl. form: legionaries) -- that would be the Roman heavy infantry. When I used the term "centurion" that's just a more generic term for a commander of about 100 soldiers.

The logo we have now is likely a legionary. Could be a centurion but hard to say without a group of 80-100 soldiers in front.

Hey, you, with the stars-and-stripes in your avatar, go shag some pop-flies, and leave the hockey talk to us Canucks.

Arizona's looking to trade for a goalie, as Mike Smith is going to be out 8 to 10 weeks recovering from surgery on a "core muscle".
