It'll get a lot more attention from game 41 onwards, but I too can't help but look at the standings. Something to strive for and talk about all the time. Division is tightening up even more and I think can be up for grabs. Should be a dandy couple of weeks into new years.

Agreed. Calling games "must wins" at this point is a bit silly, IMO.

Correct. We don't get that station in northern Saskatchewan. Smile

Must have been '80s night in Edmonton, as in goal scoring. They raised the banner (for Slats) and then lowered the boom on the Rangers 7-5. Oilers on a 5 game winning streak and 6 points out of a playoff spot (although they've played 3 games more than the current wildcard team). Still, this is all without McDavid who, at last report, was progressing a little better than expected. Who knows, maybe there's still a chance.

The East is getting a little tight for the Habs. Detroit lost in OT last night but that single brought them within 3 points of the Canadiens; both teams have played 30 games. If Montreal loses in regulation tonight that would put Ottawa within 4, with a game in hand. And although Boston is 8 points back, they have 3 games in hand with a fairly easy schedule coming up (Florida, Edmonton, Pittsburghx2, Jersey).

Leafs winning ways from decades ago to be restored with new logo:

Highly comical.

We missed discussing this -- Penguins fired head coach Mike Johnson and assistant Gary Agnew; Mike Sullivan comes in as the new HC. His previous head coach experience in the NHL was 2 seasons in Boston, the years before and after the 2004 lockout. Jacques Martin, who has been the eye-in-the-sky, will move to the bench to act as assistant. Rick Tocchet will remain as another assistant coach. His first week includes a game against Division rival and top team Washington, then a home-and-home against the very hot Bruins (7-2-1 in their last 10).

I think it's working out as expected. As did the Semin experiment (except that one was a lot cheaper).

Speaking of new looks, can we get back our old look and make it 'new' again? The latest logo and jersey scheme is no match for the 2D logo and color scheme we used earlier. Also we have the same template at the penguins which my guess was being tried out for the new RBK sweaters. We're over that now. Bring on Adidas!

I really dont get the nostalgia for that jersey. I really never liked that logo and to me it also reminds me of the senators before they were really any good. I know they wore it when we started making the playoffs but no, im not for it.

If the team really wants to go another direction then they should maybe keep the alternate coulours we have now and make them permanent. I cnt say i thought having a big zero in front of the jersey was a brilliant marketing move but at least the jersey itself is really nice looking. Me want one of those cream coloured ones soon.

Yeah alternate jerseys becoming permanent would be good too, and to be honest I think that's the direction they'll like head down. But they should keep the roman legionnaire somehow, it's been there since inception.

Personally i. Ready to walk away from the whole legionnaire thing. I dont think the team shares my view though. I thought the prime minister mascots was a bad idea also. Just step away from the whole government town aspect. It's just freaking lame. It's got no guts.

or years, the KHL has been looking to grow and expand in an attempt to compete with the NHL and become a worldwide league. In 2012, former league president Alexander Medvedev mentioned the potential for the league to expand to 64 teams. Medvedev was replaced by Dmitry Chernyshenko in November 2014.

Ya great idea.

Might have our first chinese super hockey trained soldiers come out of china in a couple of decades.
