Blackhawks have placed Tikhonov on waivers. Wow. I guess Panarin's English is good enough now?

To be honest, I love it when some flunky gets voted in to the ASG. The NHL should embrace this.

They should pick one fan from each of the 30 teams to represent.

Brandon Prust was fined $5,000 for spearing Brad Marchand. When asked by a reports if he was alright with that he replied, "Best money I've ever spent."

Scoreboard Watching:

Over the last 10 games Detroit has not had a regulation loss. Hottest team in the league right now with 7-0-3 (17 points) in their last 10. The next hottest team -- teams, actually -- are the Caps and Stars, at 7-1-2 (16 points). Washington returns from a short 3-game road trip (2-0-1) to host the Red Wings tonight. Detroit just finished up a 6-game homestand with a 4-0-2 record. However only one of those 4 wins were in regulation. They needed OT to earn the extra point from Edmonton and a SO to beat Buffalo. So not exactly dominating. I predict the Wings get clipped tonight.

Scoreboard Watching - West:

Chicago and Nashville are the holders of the two wildcard spots in the West. They go at it tonight. Outside of Kane and that entire top line, the Blackhawks are *not* doing all that well. Toews has 8 goals (4th on the team after the top line) but then there's a drop off to 5 for Hossa, Seabrooke and Teravainen. To put it into perspective, Smith and Pageau have 6 goals. Michalek has 5. So next time you whine how you'd love to have Hossa here, he's not doing any better than Michalek, and at a higher cap hit.

Hossa is getting old, so his production will be down. Still, he's just starting to come alive. If you watch the games instead of just looking at a stat line, you'll realize that after a really slow start he's starting to pile up some points. I'd bet he'll finish with over 50. I'd also bet that none of JGP, 9MM, or Zmith are going to beat him in scoring.

My guess:

Hoss 55 points
JGP 41 points
9MM 33 points
Zmith 26 points

Thats quite a lot for zsmith. I know he went on a tear for a couple of games but im not sure if we should expect anything from him. Ill take it thought if we do. And if we do, it might be the right time to think about moving him again if theres interest out there.

If Pageau had linemates like Hossa does he'd finish with more than 41 points. He's got 6 goals pretty much on his own and just 3 assists. Why? Not because he's a puck hog who can't pass, but because his linemates can't hit the broad side of the CTC. Also Pageau costs a hell of a lot less and hits a hell of a lot more. Pound for pound Pageau gives you more bang for your buck.

I should book mark this Smile
