I'll do some digging and update later in the day.

Good idea.  No reason to jump to conclusions.  Perhaps this is something for our trusted GMH twitterer?

If they do, does Anderson still start tomorrow? If Hammond gets another shutout (or has a beastly performance), I don't see how they can mess with what's working.

They were dumb enough to put Anderson in after Lehner's run last year so, I wouldn't put anything past this coaching staff.

Let's not forget that

-- Anderson is our #1 goalie and the best goalie this franchise has had in who knows how long
-- Anderson has been awesome all year
-- We're playing back-to-backs here and common practice, supported by the stats, says you start different goalies
-- Hammond is our backup backup and the sample size of his performance is very small.

It's great what Hammond's doing. It's fantastic that he won #1 star of the week. But let's not forget that Andy has been a 'star of the night' in pretty much every game we've played this year, and will unquestionably be our starting goalie on game of the playoffs should we be so lucky as to make it there.

Hammond keeps the net tomorrow, then gets relieved by Andy in the back to back tomorrow. Re-evaluate after their respective performances. And try not, in the meantime, to anoint a career AHLer as our new starter just yet.

Let's see what happens tonight before we discuss tomorrow.

Has nothing to do with any of that. You run with the hot hand until he crashes back to earth.

IMO they will run with Hammond if he gets a shutout.

Yeah, if he gets a shutout, then it's pretty much impossible to not play him on Wednesday, as we would be in the midst of one of the greatest goalie streaks in recent times.

I hope that isn't what you think I'm doing with this comment. I'm just saying that it's very possible that they let the Hamburglar continue burgling until it no longer produces a string of Ws. I'm not suggesting that Anderson has been anything other than spectacular, but I also think that you go with the hot hand, as long as it lasts. I wouldn't care if we had the best goalie in the world as our starter. When the backup (or backup's backup, or whatever) goes on a run like this, you let him ride it out, IMO.

Sure, but... How often does any goalie on any team play both ends of a back to back? You can't fault a team for going with the numbers with the back to backs.

Not sure if anyone realizes that we are icing 4 rookies and 5 sophomores right now. That's just insane.

A month ago Dubnyk was a career backup (if even that). Odds are still that he returns to his roots but, for now, Minny is in a playoff spot; a month ago they were 5 points out (with Vancouver holding a game in hand) and 4 teams ahead of them.

The numbers provide a statistical trend over the long-haul, but every now and then you get an exceptional set of circumstances, which we apparently have here. If Hammond is lights-out again tonight, they should roll with him tomorrow. There's no room for failure currently, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Meh. We've had players, D and forwards, coming in and out over the course of this streak. And Andy's gotta get back in if we're going to do anything in the playoffs. I really don't see this as anything to get excited about.

Who are the sophomores? Ceci-Pageau-Chiasson-Boro. Who am I missing? Puempel and Driedger were sent back (not that they'd be sophomores but I'm wondering if I'm counting a rookie as a sophomore).

Yeah, Andy would be the man in the playoffs, but the only reason we're having this discussion is because of Hammond.

The Sens look a lot like Tampa did 2 seasons ago.  Sens are so close to turning the corner if they haven't already.

As for the goalie situation right now... tough call.  I know Anderson was joking when he said "I wouldn't put me in either" but it was laced with truth.  I in no way believe Hammond is some star nor do I think anyone else here believes that but you ride this streak into the f***ing ground.

I disagree with Mr.Poo in this particular instance just because the Hammond thing happens once a decade... sometimes things defy logic and this is one of them. Embrace it, enjoy it, and let it go... Hammond is my weed.
