Not going to debate the skill of this guy as it's through the roof. But he is up for a new contract for next season and if his demands outweigh the 'budget' what happens? Does he leave for Russia to play for his father? Is he offer-sheeted?

The Sens would be left with a 2014 first and a 2nd in 2015 for Jason.

It's just risky. I just can't see Murray doing that.

i could live with that. again, I doubt the whole ideas that budget will stop us from resigning key guys... that may change with rye in july...

How about we stop quoting twitter posts from completely unknown sources? I could create an account and write Spezza is expected to return Pietrangelo + Schwartz and it would be the same.

Unless it's a TSN insider or Elliotte Friedman, it is pure speculation, period.

I made it clear it was unsubstantiated....it sounded in the right ballpark for Spezza though, so I figured I'd post it.  You know this is the "Predict Spezza's Return" thread, right?

I have no problem with us speculating what it would take but starting to get info online and posting it here is not us predicting Spezza's return isn't it?

This is a rumour thread and it seemed like a trade scenario that wasn't out of the question. My apologies.

I don't see Tarasenko plus picks happening. I'm sure everyone heard the interview- Murray said they made/ received offers of roster player, prospect, and pick, but that he's also made an offer of a one for one swap. In the one for one swap, do you folks actually think he's going after a higher end player than Tarasenko? In my mind, the next step up would be Oshie or similar and although it's just an offer, I can't see the Blues making a move like that. I guess my expectation is at the high end, we're getting Tarasenko or a package of Berglund and picks/ prospect.

We'd be lucky to get Oshie out of this. We're not getting Tarasenko or Schwartz - although I thought that for a fleeting second when it was rumoured Murray was letting teams negotiate with Spezza.

Berglund, Rattie/Jaskin and 1st or Oshie straight up. I doubt Oshie though, I'd be very pleased with that.

Good. People's expectations are too high. Berglund, Jaskin/Rattie and the 1st is a great package. Don't expect Shwartz or Tarasenko. Even Oshie or Shattenkirk is a lot to ask for.

Are people still talking about Murray getting Schwartz? Wow.

Hmm...so you think Tarasenko is worth more than Oshie? I'd say Tarasenko has a higher ceiling in terms of point production but overall player, Oshie has more value.

But yeah, I agree, the packages getting dreamed up are getting a little carried away.
