Good. People's expectations are too high.  Berglund, Jaskin/Rattie and the 1st is a great package.  Don't expect Shwartz or Tarasenko.  Even Oshie or Shattenkirk is a lot to ask for.

Hmm...so you think Tarasenko is worth more than Oshie? I'd say Tarasenko has a higher ceiling in terms of point production but overall player, Oshie has more value.

But yeah, I agree, the packages getting dreamed up are getting a little carried away.

I think Tarasenko has more value, yeah.  22 years old, already a 20-20 guy, the sky's the limit with him.  Oshie is a solid player, but he doesn't have near the ceiling that Tarasenko has.

I don't think Oshie's 2-way play propels him to the level that Tarasenko is at in the next two or three years.  

If I were the Blues, Tarasenko, Schwartz, Pietrangelo and Backes are 100% off limits.  Those are the pillars that you can build around for a long, long time.

If we know that Spezza's first choice is St Louis - then so should they. The Blues won't have a hard time re-signing Spezza so they could afford to give up Schwartz or Oshie or another top 6 forward.

Again, maybe you'll get Oshie, but you'll never get Schwartz or Tarasenko.

for sure. that's how i would view it, hell i'm not even sure why they're goin g after spezza when with a little patience a guy like schwartz will be a better point producer then spezza is going to be. but the business of winning hockey games is a funny business, results now. i'd see the blues parting with tarasanko before schwartz just for the russian factor as who knows what he'll be asking for in terms of contracts in his career. if it does come down to a bidding war between 3 teams(especially if kesler and thornton are taken off the market) then i could see maybe tarasanko becoming a piece. who knows who will sign statsney, could easily be none of dallas, st-louis or anaheim.
personally i'd love oshie. the type of player we need. him and what we hope lazar will become would make this team hopefully much more competitive and feisty in the future. I just hope we start drafting some pure skill again in the future.
