Luca Sbisa is a great d-man. Palmieri is a Top 6 in the making. Add a pick and that's what you should expect.

Sbisa would be a nice welcome for sure. I don't even care about the return we get at forward position. I really believe Stone, DaCosta, Zibanejad and LAzar are gonna be good next year.

However, we can get Bonino and Sbiza IMO. Diddle the pick.

Just curious who Montreal's #1 center is?  Do they have a PPG guy?  Do the Rangers? Just curious.

ya, desharnais is montreal's #1C  Laugh1 he's been effective but not a long term solution if you ask me. I guess they have a guy in the making with galchenyuk but he's gonna take a few more years. but i know where you're going with this.... Sandy? Prags?

Does it really matter when both teams have star goaltenders in Price and Lundqvist?

You have literally come up with every reason why the Sens are not this or are not that.  The Sens aren't the Bruins so you think they need Spezza, hell according to you they never will be.  Now a team the Sens beat in 5 games last year WITHOUT Spezza is now going to the conference finals and you are saying "well the Sens will never be the Habs because they don't have Price".   If you need any more proof of how unimportant having a PPG center who plays on 1/3 of the ice is to a hockey team then I feel sorry for you.  It's clear as day what wins in the NHL and Spezza is the guy that keeps a team from building into a contender.

You like the points, the slick moves, cool.  There was nothing slick about how LA won the cup and got to where they are now.  Nothing slick about the Habs and Rangers, nothing really slick about the Bruins or Blues, even the Ducks beyond Perry and Getzlaf are a hard working group.  Maybe it's time to admit Sandy (at least to yourself) that teams avoid players like Spezza as their captains and #1 centers because at the end of the day they underachieve.  I assume you have accepted the fact Spezza isn't coming back I just hope you accept the fact the Sens do not need him and will not need him in the future.

I'm ok with people saying "I really like Spezza, I think he underrated, I think he gets more than his fair share of blame", that's all good.  I am sick of people saying the Sens need Spezza with no basis for that comment or that the Sens just won't be as good without him.  Hell if the Sens are missing the playoffs with him then it doesn't matter how bad they are without him.

Spezza doesn't do what the coach asks and for a young team that's he the captain of it's totally unacceptable.  Spezza plays hard when he wants to and again, leading a young team while having that nasty little habit.  Doesn't work hard when he doesn't have the puck and once more with a young team it will just trickle down as you saw.

As for Murray, I don't even think he's "accepted" it.  IMO he doesn't want to trade Spezza but is being forced to.

well it's happening. thank Diddle. as for murray i just hope he gets us the right pieces. that's the thing with him. he seems to get what type of player it takes to win a cup, just seems to brain fart around spezza.

He believes in Spezza's talent and you know what there is a ton of it and it's easy to not see past, unfortunately Spezza the professional is about as uncommitted to the on ice team concept as you can possibly get.

I'm late to the conversation today, so I apologize if this has already been discussed.

Scott Cullen is reporting on TSN that he believe the Sens will trade Spezza to Anaheim for Palmieri, Sbisa, and 10th overall pick. He also thinks we sign Grabovski to play with Stone and MacArthur on the second line. If this is what we get for Spezza, and these are the off-season moves I might become a Sabres fan... In Tim Murray we trust?

For those wondering Sbisa played 30 games with Anaheim this season and recorded 6 points and 43 PIMs. I forgot that we needed another RW too (Palmieri) even though Cullen has him as our top-line LW playing with Ryan and Turris...

I don't think Cullen is "reporting" that that will happen, I think it's just his best guess. He's not an "insider". Here's his projected roster for us:

Don't want Stewart, he's as much of a 2-way player as Spezza is. He hasn't been outstanding since his Colorado days.

Want a power forward? Get DSP from Anaheim.
