Like I said before, I wouldn't be shocked to see Spezza and Cowen moved for young Weber.

After already losing Suter I don't see it but, I'd certainly love to see that happen. Imagine Weber - Karlsson manning the point on a PP?????  Ahhhhh! Ahhhhh!

Yah won't be happening.

If it's a deal with Nashville it's probably for their 1st this year (11th overall) or maybe next years 1st but I doubt that.  The prospect?  IMO is should be Salomaki, he's exactly what you want in a young winger, talent, speed, and grit, plays like a true Finn.  The roster player?  They don't have a ton that can come in and play right now so that's an issue, you might be looking at Jarnkrok plus a guy like Wilson.

Weber is a rightie.

Although a rightie on his right side feeding a rightie on the left for a one-timer would work, too. Gonchar to Karlsson v2.0.

I'd rather add to Spezza and get shattenkirk and berglund. Karlsson, shattenkirk, Ceci on the right side = madness. Gryba should be able to play the left side, but that's another discussion.

Wilson, forsberg + 1st would be nice too.

Interesting article here:
http://www.silversevensens.com/2014/5/13/5711884/why-trading-jason-spezza-might-not-be-so-great-after-all

Early on NEELY was all over Spezza for not being able to produce 5-on-5. Well, guess what, he's 2nd on the team when adjusted for ice time (Ryan is first). Here's the full table:

Jason Spezza - Trade Discussion - Page 13 Captur21

Look at Conacher up there above Karlsson. Look at Condra! Proof positive that stats lie, right?

Then the 5-on-4 numbers have Spezza on top, followed by Karlsson and, umm, Phillips?

BTW, Wiercioch is on both lists -- 10th 5-on-5 and 4th 5-on-4.

Would take Jarnkrok and Salomaki over him.

All that is great, but also consider how much of a horrendous defensive liability Spezza is when on the ice 5 on 5.

Seriously, Ottawa's problem is not goal scoring.

It's kinda like how Ovechkin will never lead a team to a Cup if he's scoring 50 goals but also is -30.

Good bloodlines there.

After already losing Luongo, I didn't see a Schneider trade.  Sarcasm

Weber's contract is front-loaded. He's earning $14M each of the next two years, and another $12M the two years after that. No way Melnyk absorbs that salary. It's more than the entire Turris line combined!

Sportsnet is reporting that Spezza is interested in St. Louis: http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/nhl-rumours-roundup-latest-hearsay-from-around-the-national-hockey-league/.

I'd imagine that any deal with Stl begins with Berglund and a 1st. Maybe add in Ty Rattie? Not sure Sens would entertain that offer, but I am personally a big Berglund fan.

The most intriguing team to me is Florida. Lots of interesting players like Barkov, Gudbranson, Huberdeau, Pirri, Bjugstad, Kulikov, Hayes, Trocheck, 1st overall pick, etc available.

I won't speculate on a trade but I'd imagine Gudbranson and Bjugstad could be had - maybe even the 1st overall pick if we sweeten the deal.

Point was that NEELY was pounding the table on how bad Spezza's 5-5 production was and how he was getting most of his points on the PP. Actually, he may have been talking about Spezza's goal production, not points.

No one here is arguing that Spezza can't put up points. It's the fact that he's a defensive liability and a turnover machine that has made him public enemy #1

Actually it was his 5 on 5 play more so than his production. His 5 on 5 play was awful most of the year.

Agreed. His 5 on 5 point production is definitely overshadowed by his lackluster 5 on 5 defensive play.
