Hemsky should test free agency, although there's a need for him here.  Michalek should sign a 2 year, 4 mil a year, but I doubt he does.

Keep Anderson unless he's being disruptive.

We don't need Hemsky or Michalek. That line is a huge liability IMO.

If Hemsky and Spezza are gone there is a huge need for a top 6 forward with some experience.
Yeah, we'd need to bring someone in... for sure. Could be a very different top 6 next year...

I'm sure EK wanted Alfie to stay too.

And Silfverber. And Regin.

Michalek also shoots left. If he's gone we have MacArthur and Hoffman -- who else?

Murray does what Melnyk tells him to, not much difference there.

I'm inclined to agree, neither of them really fit the system and have huge question marks regarding their health/injury status.

So Dean Brown is almost 100% gone: http://www.ottawasun.com/2014/04/13/expect-new-voice-of-the-ottawa-senators-next-season

Chris Cuthbert will likely take over. Kinda ambivalent, to be honest. Don't mind Brown but he's an awful homer. If we get rid of Brown, can we also move on from Slewidge (or at least see/hear less of him)?

From above:

At the same time, Brown is regarded as one of the best play-by-play men in hockey. It's inconceivable that he will be on the sidelines when 2014-15 campaign commences -- although he's also not about to take anything for granted.

Cuthbert for 60 games a year?  Yes please. He's one of the best if not the best play by play man in the game.

The only thing I'll miss with Dean Brown is... SCRAMMMMBBBLLLLE!

Actually, no, I won't miss that either.

Anderson might actually get a decent haul if Minny keeps going the way they are.
personally i still think they might opt to keep anderson for a transition year next year but if not they could possibly try to move him to Van. unless they go and try with Brodeur to mentor their young goalies.

Man I don't get the hate on dean brown. I like him and he truly was the voice of the senators. yeah he gets off-topic, who gives a Diddle the guy was clearly good for national games on CBC.

Same ppl complained about gary galley and then when he left everyone clamoured for him. Will miss dean brown (not sure why he isn't going to do radio work?). Ppl in ottawa just need something to complain about.

That said, if we get chris cuthbert, I will be ecstatic. However there's no guarantee we get him. Might be stuck with dave randorf or rod black instead. Need a good color man as well.

personally i never really care who does the play by play. worst case it makes for some funny mistakes but it's not an important facet of my game enjoyment experience.

come to think of it trading spezza and having a spezza-less team on the ice might improve my game enjoyment experience.

Minny, NYI, Van, Cal (Reimer is going there), Buffalo, Pitt (maybe), St.Louis, Winn, there are no shortage of teams that might be looking to improve their goaltending.  Either way, Lehner should be able to get that job if he plays well with absolutely no questions asked.

I don't think they'll give to Lehner, MacLean likes his vets.

However if they sign Lehner to a reasonably big long term contract then I don't see them paying him much to sit on the bench.

They might go 50/50 next year but MacLean likes to lean on one guy.

Cuthbert is good so that works for me. Hopefully TSN 1200 replaces "The Voice" with someone that doesn't piss himself on a regular basis. Brown is a big time homer and I used to be a fan of his calls, I guess the St. Louis / Chicago series will be an audition of sorts (he is better when not doing Sens games).
