trying to redeem himself, little too late.

meh, w/e, it's easy to pile on. Credit where credit is due. You can almost tell in his interviews that he's checked out though, I would bet serious cash he's gone before the year starts. Hopefully Murray can get a boat load for him.

Any Mcarthur-like player we can poach away from Toronto?

Can't stand the kid but Kadri wouldn't be a bad pickup for the Sens in any deal involving Spezza... LH center who is probably going to get moved if the right deal comes along, not sure if he's going to play 200 feet though.

What would the Ceci family think about that?  Laugh1

W/e, won't happen. I don't think Spezza waives to be honest, not for Toronto. No way he wants to become part of that s*it show, he thinks he gets a rough ride in Ottawa? lol

Spezza will end up out West, as a supporting player, on a contender, and maybe put that team over the top. There probably will be a bidding war for the teams out west who don't win the cup this year. IMO best case scenario is Chicago gets back to the finals.

makes a lot of sense. spezza can't be a center piece on any team going forwards anyway. should be brutal if st-louis or anaheim don't make it past the 1st round. I for one wouldn't be sad if Chicago won the cup to be honest. we could use a little dynasty in the NHL and a third cup would do just that.

Nice to see good guy Matt Kassian get a goal after his rough ending to his fight.

Matrix stopped 45 of 46 shots.

Yup, was nice to see him pot one because after losing to 190 lbs AHLer... I am not sure he's going to be back in the fold, even before that I think things were bleek.

That kid that Kassian fought is no joke though...he's been fighting all year in the AHL (250 PIMs or whatever it is). For Kassian, it's tough to play every 10th game, and then be expected to drop the mitts and be sharp too. Anyone can get caught by a good punch though, not a lot you can do about it. I'd be fine keeping Kassian around. For a heavy-weight, he can actually play and not be a total liability on the ice.

That said, I don't think we start next year with a dedicated fighter on the roster.

Honestly, Kassian's only job is to beat guys up and I am sorry, if a 190lb Gallant is beating down your 240lbs 4th line plug who's only job is to win those fights (it was staged) then you really don't have a place in the NHL.  I'm not saying Gallant isn't a legit fighter but I am saying Kassian really isn't, he'll go in there, tie up, throw some pillows, and that's about it.  If they want to fill that 4th line wing spot with a guy who can throw down then get someone who can throw down, otherwise give it to a skill guy that might help you win a couple.

I have maintained for a while now Shawn Thornton is the guy the Sens should be trying to plug onto that 4th line for a number of reasons.  Where he goes, wins follow.  What he can bring on and off the ice is exactly what a young team needs.

And then we end up trading for one like we did for The Kassassin.
