GAME DAY: Ottawa Senators @ New York Islanders - 7:00pm ET - THU. Jan. 13 2011
"Can we catch second last place?"
The Ottawa Senators (16-21-6, 37 pts) visit the New York Islanders (13-21-7, 33 pts) on Thursday night. The Islanders went 5-0-1 and promptly traded away Roloson and Wisniewski in an effort to stay in the basement of the NHL. New York has gone 6-3-2 in their last ten games and have a real shot at passing the Sens in the standings. Little did they know the Sens were imploding and are now working with a roster that includes O'Brien, Zack Smith, Cory Locke and recently announced 19 year old starter Robin Lehner.
The Isles have a lot of work cut out for them if they think they're staying behind the Sens. This one should be a battle of who wants to lose more. My money is on the Sens right now and I expect Lehner to get shelled even with the lowered level of competition coming up.
