"Can we catch second last place?"

The Ottawa Senators (16-21-6, 37 pts) visit the New York Islanders (13-21-7, 33 pts) on Thursday night. The Islanders went 5-0-1 and promptly traded away Roloson and Wisniewski in an effort to stay in the basement of the NHL. New York has gone 6-3-2 in their last ten games and have a real shot at passing the Sens in the standings. Little did they know the Sens were imploding and are now working with a roster that includes O'Brien, Zack Smith, Cory Locke and recently announced 19 year old starter Robin Lehner.

The Isles have a lot of work cut out for them if they think they're staying behind the Sens. This one should be a battle of who wants to lose more. My money is on the Sens right now and I expect Lehner to get shelled even with the lowered level of competition coming up.

Man, the Islanders are gaining on the Sens. This is a game we can't afford to not give away.

With this offense though, I don't even think we are the favorites in this contest. Do we have a PP goal since Spezza was injured yet?

We're definitely set up well to lose this one. Lehner in net, Locke, O'Brien, Smith, Winchester, Shannon all eating up valuable minutes.

I've been saying for months that we are a better team without him. Sarcasm

I think O'Brien got sent back down to Bingo. I'll go and check.

4-point game!

Wink

Lose in regulation... Isles are that much closer to passing us... and we are that much closer to a Top 3 pick.

Can't find it, unless I was dreaming I'm pretty sure O'Brien and Brodeur have been sent to Bingo.

It's on the Bingo site. O'Brien and Brodeur have been re-assigned go Bingo as you mentioned.

O'Brien showed some nice speed and physicality last night. I like him.

BTW it says both are re-called on an emergency basis so does that avoid the ugliness of Waivers?

Yes, and they go back as soon as their replacements are healthy.

Much like Reimer, once Giguere is ready, he goes back. They can bring him back on regular waivers if they want, but that would be a risk based on his performance.
