Methot for who? I don't like trading him - and you shouldn't either.

Part of the issue is money so it might be for a cheaper player, a pick and a prospect.

If I had to guess any deal that involves the Sens and Stewart I think Greening is the guy that moves on in a straight swap. Greening is a Hitchcock type player through and through who gets a big raise next year and that would actually offset a lot of what Stewart makes. I can't imagine Stewart has much more value than that of Greening right now... maybe they throw in a prospect like Da Costa. That's about all I would give up for Stewart.

St.Louis isn't taking on another D man without at least 1 or 2 going back the other way which won't happen.

No words for that. Butthurt over an Olympic snub? Hmmm.

Should have never been snubbed in the first place. Good for him.

makes sense but there's a lot of question marks on Stewart right now. his value is pretty low and that is probably good.
I could see Greening going the other way, the organization might be thinking that with Lazar most likely coming in next year they could stand to lose greening. maybe they go after Ott in the summer to compensate also.

Lazar is probably a better fit on the 3rd line wing than Greening going forward for sure but they will also be losing Michalek so you need to be careful. Are there other guys who are ready for that spot like Stone, Puempel, or Prince? Maybe. Either way if you can get Stewart for Greening and a little extra you probably make that move.

stone has certainly made some what of a case for himself in his short appearance. then again, what is michalek really doing this year... not much. I could see BM doing what they did through FA and getting a guy for the top 6 that's a bit underrated. my money would be they might go after Ott in FA if they can to add that special type of player they want to compete hard. some prospects will be coming up. it will be interesting to see who makes it and who is brought in but my guess is there will be some moves to try and make this team more competitive. plus the unknown future of Jason Spezza.....

Won't be getting that in Toronto.

Toronto can't pay that.. but I really like Bolland, especially come playoff time..

Not really good for anyone. Don't forget, as much as you have to admire Marty for his perseverance, it was the Tampa organization that finally gave him a chance. He was passed over by many. Same as Alfie -- if it wasn't for Ottawa he would have been playing his entire career in Sweden.

Cue another Murray trade where Ottawa gets a player on the decline and the player going the other way taps all sorts of never seen potential....

Marty doesn't owe Tampa Bay anything, just as The Alfie didn't owe us anything.

Miller is 33. If he becomes a UFA he will only be able to sign for 7 years. Chances are he won't get another contract after that. With Buffalo he can sign for 8 years and, yes, while it's a cap circumvention move, they'd be able to give him more money in the 7 years he will play (it's a rare goaltender who can play the butterfly style into his forties). So would they consider a sign-and-trade?

Seriously and that was a move that basically had to be made with a meh return for sure but when was the last time a goalie was traded for anything other than a meh roster player and mid round pics at most?

Hossa. Laich.

Marty St. Louis? Didn't he get a PTO with Ottawa? Not a trade, I know.

Chara. Not trade, either, but it was either him or Redden, so it's like they traded Chara for the room to sign Redden.
