Anderson has a 5-2-4 record vs the 'Canes. Lehner has never faced them, ever.

, but I'd be happier seeing Lehner. The Canes always give us trouble, and I think this will be no exception.

Stupid 5pm start time on a back-to-back. Might as well just play Friday night, then Sunday at 1.

Craig Anderson said he didn’t have any confirmation but he expects to play Sunday vs. the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh. Coach Paul MacLean said with back-to-backs that “alternating” the goalies was the best course of action.

Mind you, that was before Lehner stopped all but one shot on goal (the Datsyuk goal was a cross-crease pass that Cowen viciously kneed/shinned into the net -- honestly, where were the refs on that one!)

It'll be interesting who will start:

“Robin has responded to challenges we have given him in the past,” MacLean said. “We put him in the net in Boston, we put him in the net in Toronto. Now we put him in the net in Joe Louis Arena. Those are stepping stones for him in his career. As far as becoming a No. 1 type goaltender.”

That said, MacLean reiterated that Craig Anderson is still his No. 1, though he wouldn’t name his Sunday starter against the Carolina Hurricanes. That was still TBA as the team left Detroit for Raleigh.

He can say it all he wants, doesn't make it true and if he does believe it's true he's the only one.

I really don't think Anderson has played poorly, but he needs to start getting Ws. He's gotta feel the pressure Lehner is putting on him, and step up. It's in his own best interest.

"Hasn't played poorly" isn't exactly a compliment. Joey MacDonald didn't play poorly either but he's still in the AHL now.

Either way, he has the worst numbers in the NHL of any "#1" at this point, Lehner has the best of any "backup".

Lehner has started 8 games to Anderson's 15 -- that's almost double the starts. Consider the relief appearances as an almost nno-way-possible-to-win situations since you're usually coming in 3-4 goals down. Yet Lehner has 4 wins while Anderson has 5. And it's not like he has faced weaker opponents. It's so patently clear that he gives them the best chance at winning it's not funny.

Actually if you consider starters, Dubnyk and Nabokov have worse SV%. Hard to tell who is the starter in Calgary, but they all have worse numbers.

Weird standings. The Sens are 5 points out of a playoff position; the Canes only 3. Yet the Sens have 22 points while the Canes only 21 (both have played 23 games).

Great stat from Mendes.

Sens record against 4 biggest rivals TOR, MTL, DET & BOS: is 4-0-1 (outscored them 22-11). Against everyone else: 5-10-3 (outscored 62-45)

Throw in the two wins against Buffalo and Florida and the Sens have a 6-0-1 intra-Divisional record. By comparison, Boston is 8-2-0; Toronto is 3-2-0.
