One thing is becoming very clear, MacLean is really sticking with the vets... we'll see if that pays off as the season moves on.

I can't even get mad at Michalek any more, coach should know to not play him.

And as for Contra, #57 can have his job for a spell.

The Sens are close to making a shakeup move because right now there is a ton lacking. 3 big things are more mobility on the back end, a grinder who can score a little ie secondary scoring, and a winger for Spezza.

Needs a big trade seriously because Michalek cannot stay on that top 6 and MacLean won't demote him

Sens are no where near as good as I thought they would be at this point... not getting great goaltending, D aside from Karlsson and Methot is seriously in trouble, and absolutely no secondary scoring from the 3rd and 4th lines. (even though Smith is playing pretty well).

MacLean won't take him away from Spezza for sure, again MacLean sticks with his vets which you need to do but at some point someone is going to have to cut bait with Michalek.

The coaching staff is not looking good at all right now. Most teams out there that I watch have way more chemistry than the Sens and that's coaching.

This is probably where I draw the line in terms of ripping on the team because they didn't become stupid, incompetent, or unable to coach at the very highest level over night. Anderson has looked average at best this season, the D is very immobile, and there is no jam up front.

MacLean can only play the players he has right now and right now the team has a couple vets who are slowing down in Neil and Michalek, a D that is very slow right, and average goaltending from Anderson.

The other thing that is showing right now is the team youth. Cowen isn't ready to play most nights and has picked up where his playoffs left off, Conacher is showing he doesn't have a ton of hockey sense or enough experience to be effective consistently, and Weircioch is showing he isn't ready to handle top 4 mins. That's why Phillips is playing more hockey than he should, that's why Corvo is in the lineup more than he should be, and that's why Michalek is still an option in the top 6.

This is going to be a very imperfect season and patients will have to be practiced.

Re assess after we're done with this horrible starting schedule.

I do agree though. We need a winger for Spezza.
