I think Da Costa will be on the third line with Pageau and Condra will see 4th line duty. The other wild card is Conacher. If he doesn't start producing he'll find himself in the press box in short order because he's not a good fit for 3rd or 4th line dutyDefenceWinsChampionships wrote:I am actually very happy with this move. Zib was outplayed this training camp by not 2 but 3 players and the organization rewarded the harder working players. Sending him down really sends a message to him and the organization as a whole. It also makes sense as Ottawa wants to develop Zib as a center and there's no room in their top-six right now. In Bingo, he gets an opportunity to center the top line composed of high-potential prospects rather than being tested on the wings or centering a fourth line given his camp. I think it's beneficial for everyone that he start the season down there.
People are reading into this too much though. On the business side, Zib is on a two-way and the Sens did not want to lose Da Costa on waivers for nothing. I am assuming BM tries to work out a deal early in the season to trade some depth for picks so Zib and maybe Stone have a chance to crack the roster at some point. Also given our injury history, Zib will likely be back up within a matter of weeks (knock on wood).
I am not sure how they plan on using Pageau/Da Costa though. Did Pageau earn himself 3rd line duties? If so, Da Costa on the fourth doesn't make sense to me...
Michalek- Spezza- Ryan
MacArthur-Turris- Conacher
Greening- Pageau- Condra
Smith- Da Costa- Neil
Da Costa is on the 4th with Smith and Neil. This will be how it lines up on Friday.Cap'n Clutch wrote:I think Da Costa will be on the third line with Pageau and Condra will see 4th line duty. It's only the diving and lazy penalties that have to go, other than that he's looked fantastic. Might be our top forward prospect outside of Z-Bad and now Pageau.DefenceWinsChampionships wrote:Very true. I know he was scratched a few games down the stretch but I really like his game (minus the penalties). He can score, he wins battles, he's got good offensive vision, and players love picking on him because he's small. Hopefully the penalties he took last year translate to the penalties he'll draw this year.
Why is Pageau getting the Z-Bad treatment? And what is a creative center like Da Costa going to do with Smith and Neil to dish the puck? Not crazy about those lines.SpezDispenser wrote:Brent Wallace @tsn_wally 2m

Methot-Karlsson, Cowen-Wiercioch, Phillips-Corvo. Gryba extra. #Sens D
There's no other Cussing choice at this point! These lines should surprise absolutely nobody. We knew the top line was going to be the Big Three. We've known the second line for about a month...so it's just the bottom two lines that'll be fiddled with at this point. ZERO SURPRISES.wprager wrote:Why is Pageau getting the Z-Bad treatment? Why are people complaining? Because our 4th line center is too good for 4th line duties? Neil is also too good to be a 4th liner and Smith is too good a center to be playing on the wing on the 4th line.tim1_2 wrote:There's no other Cussing choice at this point! I'd put one of Pageau or Da Costa on the wing and make a scoring third line and an energy/checking 4th line. Smith and Neil and Condra can pay with themselves.Hoags wrote:Someone has to play with Smith and Neil.
If by "people" you mean me, why don't you call me out to my face. You spout your opinions here like they were the Ten Commandments passed down from God. I can have my opinions as well. Are you sure you've agreed with every single thing Mac has done?NEELY wrote:Like wtf? How are people complaining about Pageau playing between Greening and Condra? Where else would he go? They have their lines set how they want. Amazing how people just straight up question the Jack Adams winner from just last year, lol.
If by "diet" you mean "steroids" then, yeah, he's at that age.NEELY wrote:He's at the age where you start putting on serious weight and muscle if diet and lifestyle allow it. Karlsson will be playing the game at around 195-200 lbs when all is said and done.
