They're waiting on Da Costa.Flo The Action wrote:I'm a little surprised. I thought for sure EDM would of picked him uo on waivers. they desperately need help down the middle.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the new CBA did away with re-entry waivers.Michallica wrote:They might just wait for him to get on re-entry waivers so they only have to pay half of his salary. Still he's earning so little anyways....
They'll have a crack at Hoffman, not Da Costa.tim1_2 wrote:They're waiting on Da Costa.Flo The Action wrote:I'm a little surprised. I thought for sure EDM would of picked him uo on waivers. they desperately need help down the middle.
they need centermen bad! they're just waiting to see what goes thru waivers. aahhh Edmonton quality organization. when not tanking in the draft they're scrapping everyone's barrel.SpezDispenser wrote:They'll have a crack at Hoffman, not Da Costa.tim1_2 wrote:They're waiting on Da Costa.Flo The Action wrote:I'm a little surprised. Yeah, apparently Garrioch went on for a while with his authoritative airs talking about re-entry waivers on the pre-game show. Oopsies.SpezDispenser wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the new CBA did away with re-entry waivers.Michallica wrote:They might just wait for him to get on re-entry waivers so they only have to pay half of his salary. how the professional media that has covered the lockout, the league and its ramification can do this kind of mistakes is beyond me. the above common fan like us seem to know this sort of information like the back of our hand. what kind of accreditation must you have to be a sports writer these days. and this ain't solely ottawa, it's unbelievable how sometimes the media in mtl cant seem to make the difference between being drafted in the fourth round and fourth overall... I mean these are easy facts to retain! you're fiiiiiiiiiiiiired!wprager wrote:Yeah, apparently Garrioch went on for a while with his authoritative airs talking about re-entry waivers on the pre-game show. You mentioned everybody but DaCosta, who might be the man for the job.wprager wrote:Spezza didn't take part in the main practice, skated by himself after others have gone. He's not playing tomorrow, that's for sure. I still have to trust him and P-Mac at their words that this is minor and would not keep him out of a regular season game.
That said, he's had 1 game with Ryan and I don't remember any "chemistry" being on display. This is not a 48-game season and so long as the rest of the team is healthy and, come on, it's the Buffalo Sabres! Maybe he should sit out another week and start in Toronto next Saturday.
In the meantime, who would you replace him with, assuming Ryan/Michalek stay together? Move Turris and Zibanejad/Pageau up to center the 2nd line? Or keep the 17-7-89(?) line together to build chemistry, and replace Spezza between Ryan and Michalek (Z-Bad? Pageau?)
In Paulrus we trust, and all, but I really hate Zibanejad with Condra and Pageau with Neil.Don Brennan @SunDoniB
1st group line at practice, if you care: MacArthur-Turris-Conacher, Greening-Pageau-Neil, Smith-Zibanejad-Condra, Ryan-DaCosta-Michalek
I know, I know. I was still working on the "9 teams with scouts at the Habs game and he's being showcased" angle. But with Spezza now looking like he's not going to be ready in Buffalo, Baby-head just might be getting some NHL starts with Ottawa. He's earned at least a few games with his pre-season play; I just didn't think it was going to be with the Sens.SeawaySensFan wrote:You mentioned everybody but DaCosta, who might be the man for the job.wprager wrote:Spezza didn't take part in the main practice, skated by himself after others have gone. By the way, I think Turris is the better player, obviously. But if DaCosta can put up points while he's being showcased, why not let Turris get comfortable with his permanent linemates? It's a tough call but this is a pretty unique situation.wprager wrote:I know, I know. I was still working on the "9 teams with scouts at the Habs game and he's being showcased" angle.
