Melnyk went and said something like 'I'm proud of the maple leafs for being competitive' or something to that extent. I'm not too pleased with that, especially when it's done in a radio interview thrashing the ottawa council and parts of the city like RCR.

This melnyk vs City of Ottawa thing....it's on the verge of becoming a distraction now.

Melnyk is in the right to be angry at City Council. I agree though.. he goes over the line.. a lot.

What was once an open bidding process.. in a few months becomes a dictatorship based on what the mayor wants and not what's good for the City as a whole.

Option 1 -- 21 gaming tables to turn RCR into a Casino so they can again financially support the harness racing... The slots haven't been able to do that since March 2013... So I wonder where the $$ is coming from (since March 2013 up until RCR is designated a Casino) to support the harness racing...

VS

Option 2 -- a $500M development creating large tax revenue and hundreds of jobs.

Now which scenario would be of more benefit to a City... Option 1 will also cost taxpayer's funds to fix the one road and won't give much of anything in return... or Option 2 -- which won't cost the taxpayers anything and brings a lot of $$ and jobs to the City..

Doesn't take a genius to figure that out. So I guess City Council is a dumb.. dumb... or makes decisions based on personal bias and not what is best for the City..

I hope Melnyk can go on his own to OLG to present his proposal.. It will beat RCR hands down.. and Watson knows that...

Lac Leamy will still be the place that most people in Ottawa will spend their gambling dollars at -- if RCR is approved as the Casino ... and that is not what OLG wants.. Could OLG turn down the RCR proposal?
