I am so fed up with Ottawa City Council and the current mayor.
This is why Ottawa has been such a low-rent minor-league City for so long. No vision whatsoever. The Gene should have incorporated something related to bicycles in his plan. That would have gotten an immediate rubber-stamp.

Maybe The Euge can offer to put one of those rent-a-bike things next to the new casino at SBP.

This is why we should be on the payroll.

You and everyone else.

You can't pay for an overpass but you can pay someone for consulting fees to see what effect the overpass will have.

I just got a kick out of looking at the whereabouts of RCR on google maps street view. Way to go city council!

Only city in north america to have done this.  So as much as I hate jim watson and the current city council, these shenanigans have been happening since the early 90's so I have no hopes of it ever changing.  Good ol' back door politics in Ottawa. And that's why this city is lame

I'm not pissed off about the location of it.  It suits some and it doesn't suit others.  The biggest problem is the fact they are not developing anything to attract business, improve the economy both regionally and on a municipal level, and it's just going to be the same thing it is now with 21 gaming tables all of which will be 5 dollar minimum bets without any kind of real atmosphere to drive people to RCR.  Why even do it if that's what the plan is. Calling it a casino is an absolute lie too.

All they are trying to do is save harness racing which is a complete joke outside of some very select locations around North America for a select few people in the city or around it.

It's garbage and again, it's Watson pocketing cash on the side along with some other councilors for this favour.  No surprise though.

21 tables is nothing. People might flock there initially for the tables, and then realize it's 2 hours before they get a chance to sit down...then they'll go back to Lac Leamy.

21 is a joke... fact is there will be retired people playing hand after hand to kill time before they die and it will attract absolutely no youth at all. Give it 15-20 years and that thing will be torn complete down.

Driving directions from Sussex street: 27 minutes (using the Airport Parkway) to RCR versus 25 minutes to CTC. I suppose it makes sense for people flying into Ottawa.

The Euge should build an airport. Direct flights to the Carp Casino. Has a ring to it.

Makes sense for people in the south end of the city (where the city is really expanding now) and the people in the East end as well especially once the Hunt Club exit is good to go off the 417. The location makes sense, at least as much as any place else other than DT but what they are doing to it is a joke.

The location doesn't make sense to me though. You want to talk about general location, fine but the raceway is literally middle of nowhere. It's a drag going out there, there's little to no civilzation around there except a few homes. Why the city of Ottawa wants that land to be their one and only casino is beyond me, but yeah it's some politics all right.

Which supports my argument that you can build a casino or two more just about anywhere and people will still go.

Can't be in the middle of no where because it's a 5 min drive for me so that is simply not true. CTC is in the middle of no where. You might want to take a trip to the south end of the city sometime soon because that whole area is now residential.

A point well made by The Gene himself.

He lays things out pretty well in this clip, while Mayor Watson listens intently and gayly.
