The passion shown by #Sens fans about #Alfie just reinforces to me why I bought this team. Our fans are the best. Can't wait for October.

EM is the best. Period.

Yeah I saw that tweet yesterday.  Threw up in my mouth a little bit.

You don't get to pat yourself on the back as one of the "best" fans with attitude, mister.

No kidding. Sorry. I will return to being a knowledgeable, passionate fan. Maybe I should tweet Melnyk that I think we're getting too close to the cap for comfort.

They let me turn in my Alfie jersey and gave me two cents off per litre* at participating Canadian Tire gas stations!

I think the discount only applies with proof of purchase for $100.00 (taxes excluded) or more from the Sens Store™.

Good thing I bought a Sens coffee cup and a #PESKYSENS t-shirt...$345 + tax.

Poor Alfie

We do have the most knowledgeable fans, so I guess that's that.

For those telling me that Alfie was only making $3.5M, his $2M performance bonus is based on playing 10 games. So he's getting $5.5M.

Stating the obvious really. I don't see how anyone could not see that the "bonus" was just window dressing.

It was for people that are fans of other teams, and therefore not as knowledgeable.

I knew the bonus was something really silly. They did it that way because they can defer the bonus and it's cap hit to next year.

He is technically getting $3.5M salary.

Those fans understand that spending does not equal success and that playing a hard, exciting brand of hockey, win or lose, is worth the price of admission every time. Cheers

I actually like the wise frugal spending on the team.  It's the ability to retain our talent that concerns me.  I don't want to be a feeder team for the rest of the league.

Look at St.Louis after their ownership problems were finally resolved.  They are now pretty much a cap team just having to retain our talent.  We'll have to be that way in the future if we want to keep our prospects once they break out and earn their payday.

So Friedman was on TGOR this morning and apparently Mike Babcock told him on air yesterday that when Holland and Babcock called Alfie, they were prepared to do a sell job but after a couple minutes they realized Alfie has already decided to join them.

Almost like he was pissed off already at the Sens...perhaps due to a lowball offer and expectation he would take another discount.
