I wouldn't put Alfie in based on point totals, but more the complete game he plays, and being a captain for 14 years says something about him.  Plus, he's a Hall of Fame Good Person, and I think that should count for something too.

I think International achievements are supposed to count for something as well. I think if you won a league award, you should be in.

As much as I hate to say it, Lindros should be in based on winning the Hart alone.

I'll say this... if Bernier Federko got in so should Alfie.

If you win the Hart it should be automatic. You are the best player in the world for that moment in time and should be recognized.

International achievements should 100% count because it is indeed the HOCKEY Hall of Fame... not the NHL Hall of Fame.

Bob Costas once said that his criteria for the baseball hall of fame was being one of the best 10 players in the game for a 5 year period. 1 great year is not HOF worthy but I don't think you need to play 18 years to be worthy. Lindros is definitely worthy of the HOF even though he was a big douche bag. Alfie is borderline but after this week I can be a little more objective. I would put Alfie on par with Doug Gilmour as far as HOF worthiness.

I don't see Corey Perry being a Hall of famer

Yeah, I don't think one Hart win should make it automatic. It needs to be based on being great over an extended period of time.

He's close to a first ballot let alone not being in the HOF. Should we go over what he has done?

Mem Cup (MVP)
OHL Champ
WJC
Stanley Cup
Olympic Gold
Hart Trophy
Richard Trophy

Perry is a lock and he's only played 1/2 his career. Guy will have his spot there, 0% doubt.

I've never seen a hockey player who wins the Hart that wasn't top 10 for 5 years of his career. None. If someone comes along and has one great season and then never heard of again I'll stand corrected but it's never happened.

you don't get in the HHOF based on what you've done in junior and the olympics. It's NHL and that's it. At least to the voters.

claiming a guy as a lock for the Hall at 28 years old is nuts, especially one who isn't a high scorer every year

Ah yes, I stand corrected. There's the exception to the rule right there. But Perry is in without question, hell the only guy more decorated than him is Niedermayer.

Kharlamov and Tretiak disagree.

The passion shown by #Sens fans about #Alfie just reinforces to me why I bought this team. Our fans are the best. Can't wait for October.

You don't get to pat yourself on the back as one of the "best" fans with attitude, mister.
