There's been approximately zero legit media reports of the Sens being interested in Briere. When he doesn't land here, it'll make a couple people around these parts look a little silly...not that that hasn't happened before!

They are definitely interested in him and other buyouts. Doesn't mean they will get him.

No news is a good thing.

Meh, either way I think Ottawa doesn't do a ton besides go out and get a guy like Blum and lets the prospects all work their way into Ottawa's lineup. Any kind of UFA up front, any at all at this point and I would be surprised. Short of the Sens going out and getting Ryder for say 2 mil a season on a 3 year deal, don't think it's gonna happen for the people in Ottawa. Need 1 more D man for sure though.

There's rumours of Philly being interested in Timmy Thomas. It makes sense on one hand, because Thomas was a good goalie (hard to say if he still is), and obviously Philly is desperate. Given Thomas' apparent craziness though, it should be media gold if he lands there.

I don't think they need up-front help to make the playoffs. They went from 8th and losing in 7, to 7th and winning in the first round. And that was with a lineup held together with bubblegum and popsicle sticks for most of the year. I think they push for home ice advantage this year, and that's with the lineup we have now. That said, they sure could use a little help in the playoffs. So why not let some other team pay 2/3 of the guy's salary? I'm sure there are going to be quality rentals (not Lapointe) available, and we have the currency to pay for them.

Spoken in Prags' typically thrifty manner, I agree with the man.

I won't want to add any Free Agent that cost a Sens roster player a spot.  You made good points during the playoffs that Shero replaced Pens roster players who got the team #1 in the East with free agents who just want to win a Cup before they retire.  Any FA should be used to fill any roster holes or for depth.

Trades would work if we move prospects/players for an upgrade. Of course Murray has to find a trade that makes sense.

The Melnyk BudgetGate concerns stem from are we even going to be able to afford to keep our current lineup down the road ?

Absolutely the Sabres are out. He wants to contend, not be part of a rebuild. If what he said was true about location not being a factor, NJ should be out too.

Montreal maybe, Nashville maybe. Ottawa, yes. Come on.

Lebrun says it's the Preds, Habs, and Devils. I seem to remember some guarantees around these parts that he'd be a Sen.

Also, sign Alfredsson this afternoon. What the Diddle, enough is enough.

Thank goodness it's Lebrun who doesn't know his arse from his elbow.

That said...the Sens said they wanted a big winger who can bully his way to the front of the net and score. Size and speed.

Does that not sound like Ryan Clowe? Ahhhhh!

WTF? Lebrun is as solid as they come. He's very well connected to the French players especially.
