Elias has had some really good seasons in the past few years. Not sure why everyone is shocked. Like Ev said, Gonchar got a 10 mil contract, lol.

I guess.  Not sure why, but I though he'd do it year by year and take 4 million, guess I was way off.

Looks like i won't be off in terms of the $$ for Alfie though.

We'll see what happens with Alfi. I would bet that Alfie told Murray they need to get tougher and need 1 or two more players to really make a run and he is using all this Boston/Detroit crap as a means of forcing the team to spend. That's my opinion on it because Clarkson is a player that will make the Sens better despite being totally over paid. Take the pressure off the leadership group, takes the pressure off Neil, Kassian, and Smith. Might signal the end for Condra though.

I wouldn't let Condra go, that's for sure. Smith before Condra, no question in my mind.

If Condra is looking for term and anything over a million and the Sens sign Clarkson... he's gone. It's not even a question who the better player is.

I'd give him 1.2-1.5 X 3 personally. These are hugely important players on your team - and signing Clarkson shouldn't affect that IMO.

It might affect Greening though - who I'd also like to sign personally.

I like Condra as much as anyone, maybe more considering I thought he was going to be in the NHL when a lot of people didn't know his name but he's replaceable like it or not. Great at what he does but he can be replaced pretty easily and Clarkson is a guy that will probably take over a big portion of that role anyways. Also, there is no way Condra will sign for anything less than what Smith got... why would he?

No offense at all, while Z.Smith can pot some goals. Big difference IMO between the two. That said, Condra's a better overall player.
