That's what Alfie -- the team's Captain -- thought of his team. He did not think they were good enough to come back and win three straight from the Penguins, and he did not think they were good enough to challenge for the Cup.

Yeah I think his comments during the Pittsburgh series were pretty damning. He just has no faith this team, he gave it all and it did not happen.

Garrioch said they essentially gave him a blank check. But it's possible they ever gave him an offer, preferring, instead, to ask him what he thought he was worth. I believe it's been mentioened a couple places that they had $5M or thereabout allocated to him.

Did you not watch the playoffs and the last 2 seasons? Iginla is done as an NHL start and worth no where near what he is going to get.

They're spending to the cap and making changes. With him, who knows ?

But if he came back to the Sens with pretty much the same roster as last year I don't think he had any hope we would go deep. The signs of frustration and despair he showed in his last 2 years here in the post seasons tells me he decided to try his luck elsewhere.

Don't use the Pens as an example. They were built well until they added every tom Richard and harry to that roster and Iginla never fit it - mind you he still collected a ton of points.

And while you're at it, the Flames suck Donkey. Why bother using them as an example. This is a guy who keeps himself in great shape, I think he'd be good here, but we all know he's going somewhere like Dallas or whatever.
