An older guy came in and asked me if I thought Alfie would sign and I said yes. He asked me how much I thought and I said either 5.5 on a 1 year or 10 million for 2 years (which is my official guess).

He was aghast. He's not worth 5 million a year! No, no, no!! You're wrong.

What the heck lol? What do these people expect?

Maybe as we know this team is a budget team Alfie knows it as well he has stayed with this team for a lower price he could get else where he gave money back to this team when they were about to go bankrupt I could see him taking 4 or maybe a little less if he thinks it could mean the team landing someone and being a legit contender

The Sens have 19 players and are about $3.5 from the salary floor. Wiercioch is likely to fill that 6th spot on D to make it a full roster, and I'm guessing we'd still be $2M under. Give Alfie $5M and we have 21 (JOB is the healthy scratch up -front) and safely over the floor.

So what did Murray mean -- 2 UFAs (assuming one LHS winger and one RHS D-man) at $5M apiece is not going to happen. Maybe just one @ $5M?

I hope it's BS. I'd hate to have a chance to rake this team from very good to a contender and have Melnyk skimp on the money to make it happen. I'm serious too...it's the wrong time to be a tightwad.

Again, I hope there are moves to be made that Melynk is okay with, otherwise he's doing us a disservice. Especially if Murray has guys in mind that mesh with Mac's system.
