Don't trade Cowen, he is one of the most physical D-man we have and look at the division we are in.

I'd be really careful in judging Cowen(or anyone else) on this shortened, injury-plagued season.

Thing is we could use Wiercioch as well. This team got boxed into its own zone far too often and he is good at moving the puck out.

PMAC just spoke. Loved the growth of Z. Smith, Turris. Thinks alfie can come back. Stopped short of calling the sens contenders next season. Expects Zibby, Silfv to be much more ready for next season now that they know of the rigours of an nhl season. Biggest surprises were Gryba and Pageau who weren't even on the radar at the start of the year.

BMURR on at 10:30.

Interesting comments on the cap. Sens are operating under a bugdet that is under the cap. Murray says we're not at the point where we can spend to the cap. I guess when they feel they are ready to take that next step to become a serious contender, they'll spend to the cap.

In "rebuild/retool" mode, it's important to operate under a budget. Makes sense.

BMURR says biggest need is offense. Is willing to package prospects for a proven scorer if there is a deal to be made (not saying he defi will, but he'll do his due dilligence and look into it).

Wouldn't commit to a gonchar return, said he'd talk to him and his agent first before announcing plans to the media.

Says will hold talks on extensions for coaching staff. At the moment, he hasn't even thought about his own extension.

Never once did I suggest or say Cowen should be traded. If someone offers up Taylor Hall and Cowen is the piece they want back, well you do it. That sort of thing and having Gonchar back there for a couple of years would allow you to make a move like that, your hands wouldn't be tied because of a lack of depth. That was my entire point.

That's what I've been saying. They know precisely what the NHL is now and they'll be ready for sure.

No announcement from BMURR but he says he's made a decision on UFAs like Lats, Lundin, Regin and will let them know first. Reading into his response, it's all 'buh-bye' to those guys.

Lundin made the easiest million dollars of his life... pro rated. Regin was done, it was obvious. Latendresse was a failure and he will have trouble finding work anywhere with his work ethic and attitude. JOB is an interesting case, I would expect him to be a throw in if there is a deal made or if a team needs a depth center man to play on the 4th line... probably for a mid round draft pick in the 4th to 5th range.

Sounds like the priority is to package young players to get a top liner.

Let's start exploring the possibilities. Who is in cap hell?

Lovely. All of this is positive.

Only teams that I think may be in legitimate cap hell are Vancouver and St. Louis (not hell per say but they have a lot of guys to sign).

Don't want anyone on Vancouver.

Philly, Vancouver, Chicago isn't great either, SJ is at 55 for 15 players - so...not great, Tampa.

Philly's your place to look. Smile

I'll take the Sedin that's a winger.

Dallas isn't in cap hell but they are in financial hell. They are a team that's not even close to contending in that new central division, they need to get more pieces in their pipe line because GMJN had an awful scouting staff and did the worst job in the NHL in his time there.

Stone/1st (next year)/Wiercioch for Eriksson would be fantastic... allows Dallas to fill major needs to work towards the rebuild with young players who will fit in right away. Might have to be Noesen if it's a move with Dallas though for obvious reason.

That seems mighty low for a player like Eriksson. Think you have to deal one of Silf or Z-Bad to get him.

IMO you don't want to trade Cowen either but funny enough the times that i do sit back and think of options Edm is the one destination where a deal like that could be possible. they need defense bad. whether they actually trade one of their top guns leaves to be seen and i'd be really surprised.
