Hemsky is the most likely target out of Edmonton, I would agree. Hard to say what the asking price could be, other than it would include a d-man.
GM Hockey
yeah they're pretty clear up there with saying Eberle isn't going anywhere. I think that's just wishful thinking to think we might be able to get one. I do not want hemsky unless the price is ridiculously low.Oglethorpe wrote:Out of all Edmonton's "Young Guns" I think Eberle would be the last one they let go of. Hemsky is probably available for a reasonable return, although who knows with Tambalony.NEELY wrote:Anyways, after Perry resigning they have to be looking West to get a RW that can play on the top line for a long time. IMO they should be making a move for Eberle or at least trying to pry him out of Edmonton in the hopes they shore up their goaltending and blueline.
If you could make the deal Eberle for Bishop and Cowen, do yo do it? Then turn around and sign Smid who Murray has tried to get a few times already?
On another note though... Hemsky might happen.
I would take Fleischmann, even with the big cap hit, as long as the return was low. Hemsky or Fleischmann would work. I can' see St. Louis letting him go but Stewart would be a fantastic acquisition.NEELY wrote:Hoags wrote:NEELY wrote:Hoags wrote:If anyone I think they will move Yak, the others are untouchable.
Probably what I would do as well if I was Edmonton, get a max return for a formers 1st overall and create a ton of depth within the organization.
I remember they wanted Karlsson for #1 overall that year lol.
That was cute.
Another guy they should look strongly at is Cogliano. He's been fantastic this year with an uptempo offense. We all know Murray loves him as well.
With Perry gone though, does Fleischmann become a serious option? Fits the model in Ottawa in terms of age, position, and what he brings. Could be had fairly cheap I would imagine as well.
Other than a 3 month span, his play in Ottawa was the same as it is in Florida, just a different supporting cast.NEELY wrote:What does this year have to do with 3 of 4 solid seasons in Ottawa? I can answer that, absolutely nothing.
Try helping yourself before you try helping anyone else.

Money is a concern and they need goaltending help in a big way. I would bet Florida would move Fleischmann if Bishop was involved. Could even be something like Bishop and Hoffman for Fleischmann.
I refuse to believe they go into next season with Markstrom and Clemenson as their 1A 1B.
NEELY wrote:A deal for Stewart you start with Cowen and a 1st... then add Greening. That probably lands him if St.Louis decides they don't want to use the 34 million in cap space they have next year, lol.

Enough with the points argument. If you are on the PP because your competition is Brian Lee, Matt Carkner, Chris Phillips, Luke Richardson and Jason Smith you will get points by accident. His first year he was the best Dman on the team, but he was still brutal.NEELY wrote:No it wasn't. His first year he had 40 points in 70 games and was the teams best D man. His 2nd year he was having a solid season again until he was injured. His 3rd season was awful along with the rest of the team so if you want to pick that season out and use it against his overall body of work, fine. His last season he was very solid and his partner won a Norris trophy.... not a bad year by any stretch.
The "reasons" you list like "he would have been this without Karlsson" or "he would have been that if not for the players around him"... it's BS because there is no proof or any real concrete facts behind it. Guesses on your part.

Also if you want proof that Karlsson carried him compare this year to last year, one off season does not account for this drop off:
2012-13
Florida
Games: 27
Goals: 1
Assists: 3
Points: 4
Plus/Minus: -11
2011-12
Ottawa
Games: 73
Goals: 6
Assists: 26
Points: 32
Plus/Minus: 26
I think Karlsson's numbers last year would have been even better without that friggin' anchor playing beside him.
GAME - SET - MATCH.

St. Louis has a bunch of RFAs to sign and they do not have a lot of money there, they forced John Davidson out due to his big contract.
Shattenkirk and Pietrangelo will not be cheap.
They need an LHD badly as well.
