Well no Dung but you don't think the question will be "why didn't you address the defense or goaltending?", if they do lose to the Bruins? Fact is, now it's win or bust where before all they had to do was play. Just don't think it's a move they needed to make

It's not like I am ripping the Pens apart because I dislike the team or players, I was praising them for both the previous trades. This one I don't like despite popular opinion.

Only one guy can shoot the puck, one one guy can have the puck, only one guy can score the goals. It's overkill.

It's not like that. They want 3 balanced scoring lines and one good checking/energy line. It's not about too many cooks, it's about who attacks after Crosby and Malkin. It's a very hard lineup to match up against imo, but that doesn't always spell success.

Matching up against Iginla isn't exactly tough.

It's not just Iginla, he'll be in the top 6, this would be someone like Dupuis joining Morrow and Sutter to balance your top 9. It's a tough playoff matchup.

I wonder if Pittsburgh will make a move in the net. They have spent all of these assets to upgrade the wing and D but questions remain in the crease.

What would you do?

For the Sens, I remember how interested Murray was in J-Bo a few years ago. I'll be surprised if he doesn't take a run at him.

NTCs are a Wing Dang Doodle.

With what he got in return, and the s**tstorm to follow, he would have been better off keeping Iggy and letting him go for nothing. He's not going to survive this trade. The way the Flames' President was talking (on McCowan's show) -- when he was asked if perhaps they should have gotten the list of teams from Iginla in writing, and would/should they do it next time, he said yes, and that's on the GM. This will end up being a nothing deal for the Flames -- if Iggy doesn't re-sign they aren't even getting a bottom-5 1st round pick -- and he bad-will it has already generated will cost this organization going forward.

That's the thing, they don't need help to win by 3-4 goals instead of 2-3. They need help with games they lose 6-5.

These are multi-million dollar deals. You can't say you'll accept to 3 teams if you won't, but Feaster should have gotten it on paper with an (s)Iggnature on it. And it's not like he screwed the Bruins for a much better return -- nearly the opposite, in fact. I don't see how he can survive this.

Only 1 guy can shoot the puck... that's why I don't get the Iginla move. yah, solid winger but where does he fit? I just don't get why some GM's don't leave things alone. When was the last time (might be the first) that a team went out and traded for a HUGE name and won the Cup? I don't know if there ever has been?

Penguins came awfully close with Hossa. That's the only big deadline deal I can think of off the top of my head that actually worked out. You can't say the only measure of success is winning the Cup. Hossa was instrumental to them getting to the Finals, and that experience paved the way to them winning it the next year.

They're not replacing him.

You know what my point is though. The Pens were going to run through the East with the team they had. I thought the Morrow deal made sense, a lot. A guy that can float up and down the lineup that plays with jam. Iginla... not so sure. Like I said, too much icing on a cake right now IMO.

Crosby could win the cup by himself at any time but man, Shero should have left well enough alone. They were running through the East. Not like Iginla can do something that the Pens already have.

It's been said before, but the Pens getting Iggy means the Bs didn't.

Deal like this makes more sense in baseball. One puck, 5 skaters. Iggy replaces someone in the top-six, maybe they score 35 goals instead of 25 over 82 games, but how many more wins is it? How many of those goals will simply mean winning 6-3 instead of 5-3?

Cowen may be ready in a couple weeks. Does that change your opinion?

No. If it were up to me, I would investigate but I would not pay a ridiculous price to get him.

You cannot have too much D. J-Bo would essentially take Gonchar's spot next year, giving the Sens a strong top 4. You cannot expect the level of goaltending the Sens have had this year to persist year in, year out.
