2013 Trade Deadline

We're about a month away from the NHL Trade Deadline - Wendesday, April 3rd. As usual, it's hard to know what to expect, especially given the short season and the number of teams that may believe they're in the playoff picture. I'd figure I'd compile a list of teams that will likely be sellers, along with the players they could reasonably trade. I kept the list confined to pending free agents, or guys with a max of one year left after this year.

Teams/players may be added/deleted as circumstances dictate.

I think the Islanders and Oilers could come out of the Deadline being big winners, given their defencemen that could be traded. That would be assuming that these teams have competent management, though, which has not proven to be the case.

Calgary could trade guys like Tanguay, Glencross, and Camalleri, if they decide to go with wholesale changes, but they always seem reluctant to do that. Kiprusoff could be added to that list too, but I don't think that will happen.

Whitney might be an option... Sens are having issues with the PP and he will help, probably a better situation than Edmonton as well, more his type of game. Wouldn't give up much though.

Up front Prospal is interesting, could work.

Glencross is the guy I think Murray might be wise to go hard after and if I am not mistaken Murray is the guy that brought him into the NHL as well.

We certainly wouldn't have to give up much for Prospal, and he does play for our favourite trade partner. It'd be a typical Murray low risk move, and probably all he's up for doing if it's for a rental player.

Yah, don't see Murray making any real big moves unless it is for Perry knowing full well he can resign him to a long term deal.

Prices are usually very expensive at the deadline. Lots of buyers, few sellers. Carolina wanted a 1st round pick and Mark Stone for Jussi Jokinen last year.

I doubt Murray does much, if anything at all.

We need Dan Boyle please.

a good quality bag of pucks is the high expectation I think. maybe we can get a conditional if they resign him. but that's already lots.

I'm not really down for dealing our 1st for Boyle, but I would echo the sentiment that Boyle's here for a minimum of 2 more years after this - all of which is quite important IMO.

Stephen Weiss is done for season with wrist surgery. That really hurts for Florida, because he could've brought good return.
