They traded Lehner once though, but I assume things have changed because his work ethic has been amazing and he's basically the best goaltender not in the NHL.

We were close to losing him though - and if the Murrays did it once...we should quietly prepare ourselves that it's a possibility.

We agreed to the deal that would have sent Lehner + Zibanejad + 1st(Ceci) for Nash.

That was just a rumor anyway, lucky he didn't waive.

No, it was Lehner all right. Yes, probably lucky he didn't waive. Don't really care about Zibanejad + Ceci, but Lehner would have hurt.

However....now that you know how good Anderson and Bishop were gonna be, are you still dead set against it?

If that truly was the proposed deal, my god that's an overpayment. Glad nash said no.

I'm not really disagreeing, I think Lehner in there makes it too much personally, but Sens fans should snuggle up to this kind of trade. Maybe it's Bishop + Zibanejad + 1st + something else for a proven, goal scoring winger, but it'll be a lot - and I'm sure Murray realizes he's in a position to start making one or two of these moves.

Lehner is younger and has done more at a young age than Bishop. I'm still not sold on Bishop long term plus if Lehner is this good at this age, how good will he be at Bishop's age ?

Lehner is a keeper at this point, barring some massive overpayment perhaps.

Unless info comes from Management's mouth, we shouldn't even talk about it as info. That's just speculation based on nothing.

At the time it wasn't the Garriochs of the world reporting it, it was as solid as they come. The kind of thing that comes out from someone who has an idea of what's happening. Not sure how you're dismissing it like that.

From what Murray said today, no such player is currently available.

Melnyk better wheel out the bank vault for Perry this summer. Alfie closing in on retirement and Michalek's knees are acting up again.

The point is trade rumours are not discussion worthy because there is no way to prove them.

I'm not sure you can prove it unless you took the people who reported it seriously. There was a lot happening at the time for me personally, but I remember being as convinced as possible that that was the deal.

And it fits what the jackets were looking for too.

I'd say they are discussion worthy if they don't come from Eklund or Hockeyyinsderr or something. Obviously you can't prove anything but it's fun to speculate sometimes.

I can believe they offered Lehner, he had a bad season last year and after getting Bishop last year they might have thought to sell him on him while they can. He surprised many this year with his new attitude so I'd say he's off the table now.

I still doubt it but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Michalek is basically untradeable at this point because no team is going to give up anything for a guy whos knee's might not hold up and is due for surgery in the off season... best chance Ottawa has in signing Perry is him staying with the Ducks and leaving in the off season.

Plan B is going to be Horton I would bet.
