A guy with that size, speed and skill plus a RH shot is nothing special ?

Whatever, I hope we win the lottery, someone up there owes us big time.

I'd sooner have that debt paid with a Cup. Being a lottery team sucks balls and wishing for a lottery pick this early in the season is just wrong unless you're some kind of prospect groupie of which there are many here. Beer

There's like 2 months left.

There's like 3/4 of the season left.

we're so decimated right now i don't think there's an equivalent to be made around the league right now as to the severity of this situation.
we're hanging on by an Andersson thread. the best there is to hope now is that the kids take it ver like they did a few years back and that the rest of the league suddently under-estimates us on nightly basis.

doomed I tell ya! we're all doomed!

Seriously, I don't see why anyone would go out and try to save this season by replacing Karlsson and or Spezza. It's impossible. The only saving grance might be ROR because he would fit into the organization on a really long term basis and is absolutely a player you would want to have on your team at any time.

Let things play out... maybe they win games 2-1, 1-0 the rest of the way and they somehow squeek into the playoffs. I doubt it but you never know.

We'll see what Murray will say in a few minutes. We need to know what is on his mind.
Let's keep this conversation about the draft though.

Murray's presser won't reveal anything. He'll just use it as a forum to express his anger and frustration. Saying they'll look at all their options etc...

It's been decided. I want Jonathan Drouin. The guy breathes hockey.

I was about to say that an ignorant comment about a massive segment of the population isn't like you, Spez. Then I realized that I'd been fooled and it seemed less unlike the poster. Nod

Diddle size and strength I want the more skilled player out there.
Second coming of Patrick Kane book it. And according to Mooseheads fans a better person than McKinnon.

Some of them have interacted in fan fairs and in organized community events.
At the end of the day, it's not a big deal if they both perform on the ice, but it looks like Drouin has been the best player between the two since the beginning of the season. More engaged, more consistent.

Methot - Karlsson
Cowen - Ceci
Wiercioch - Gryba

Phillips, Borowiecki

Other than Ceci on the 2nd pairing, that's not a bad back-end. We'd need a stop-gap of sorts, but Seth Jones isn't it.

What we *do* need from the draft is a center who can be groomed to replace Spezza on the top line. We have Spezza, Turris, Zibanejad, Da Costa, Smith, O'Brien for now, so we are talking a good 4-5 years down the road.

MacKinnon (if we win the lottery), Lindholm, Monahan?

Seth Jones would be able to play in the NHL today and would be better than every d-man on the team except Karlsson

How can you say that about a guy how hasn't played a single pro game??!

There's no guarantee, but the guy is huge, has incredible hockey sense, skates awesomely and moves the puck like the best of them. I'd say he's better than Hedman at the same age.

How many years did it take for Hedman to be noticed for anything other than mediocrity, though (and knocking Crosby out)? He's now leading the league in +/-, and that's his basic claim to fame in his fourth full year. Karlsson is the reigning Norris winner and it took him two years to get noticed.

Not sure how Karlsson even comes into this discussion, but I'm pretty sure Hedman had top 3 ice time on his team every year since he joined the league. He doesn't need to be a Norris winner or candidate to be the 2nd best defenseman in Ottawa with the group we have.
And like I said, I think Jones is better than Hedman in every single area.

I think Karlsson started getting notice in his first year, even Clouston was playing him top minutes at times(against Pittsburgh in the playoffs). Last year was the first year he put it all together. Does anyone else think Karlsson would be a bust on at least half the teams in the league ? Karlsson is what he is but he has a coach that actually encourages his play while still preaching defensive responsability. It's a perfect storm for him here. I can imagine Karlsson on the Rangers being made to block shots by Tortorella.....

Hedman's been a disappointment until this year, even then I wonder if he's living up to the hype.
