When the Pens are back in Ottawa on April 22nd there better be a response and a big one.

That said I think it's time they carry a heavyweight for the rest of the season. A guy that will protect the youth that is going to be taken advantage of if there is no one there to watch their backs.

honestly, it's like, I don't even want this group to make the playoffs. What is the point?

Well it'll be an interesting test to see how they respond down the road.

If they show some fight and keep playing hard then we've got a good team with good character.

If the start mailing it in starting now then we have no shame I guess.

I mean you'd think the motto in the room is "It ain't over til it's over, never quit etc."

They won't. It's not even a possibility at this point. Cowen, Spezza, and Karlsson, that's over an hour of ice time a game, impossible to replace.

Not even sure I can watch the rest of the game (obviously I will) because it's pointless and they are just counting down the days until the draft.

It's an AHL team with an aged Alfi. I would be surprised if the Sens won 10 games the rest of the way. I think 5 would be a stretch. They have no one to score, no one to move the puck, and no one to really lead the charge. It's over for this season.

First reaction will be from Murray in a trade. There's no way he's sitting idly by whether fans believe the effort is futile or not , so I'm interested and a little scared to see what transpires.

Another thing is the sens need another forward now assuming Michalek, Regin, and latendresse aren't ready. Another call up from bingo....grant I think.

There's also a reason we were touting our 'depth' when injuries occurred. It may be a struggle for some stretches but it's still possible for the likes of weircioch, silfverberg, zib, da costa to start producing but they'll need lots of help from Alfie and Michalek.

Alfie and the kids....man this is gonna be interesting

It's not gonna be the team we have now, we need some short term fixes. A top six winger - again, a short term fix is fine and a short term solution on D.

Nothing fancy here, but some patchwork could conceivably hold us in until Spezza gets back, then you can see where you are. I'd relieve a team or two of a contract, perhaps a couple of million and cross my finger. Ponikarovsky is a nice example of a middle tier guy going for a 4th.

What's that based on?

Nope.

Kevin Bieksa had achilies sliced 90% thru: in hard cast 6 weeks so lots of atrophy/played 3 months and 22 days after/took 1yr to feel 100%

Let's just wait and see.

Bryan Murray was fuming after the game. Time to hire some goons.

I hope weircioch can find another gear, but I think pmac will have to adopt a different style of game if he wants to win.

Now I will cry myself to sleep. Pout

Ya, finding a way to win without your top players is very damaging to franchises. They should just fold the team.

Are you suggesting that there's no shame in not trying? Wow. "When the going gets tough, quit," right?

It's not a likelihood. Of course it's a possibility.

Seriously guys, this is absolutely devastating news for the Sens this year. I have to say that I'm disappointed in everyone's quitter attitude though. It's probably going to go south for them at this point, but it's nice to see that you've all given up on the team that you claim to support. Dammit!

We have 6 bottom-4 left handed defensemen, and 1-2 top 6 forwards.
Not sure any style of play will make us win.

Again, you need to patchwork this team right now until Spezza gets back. Maybe even make that move for a young, righty if you can get it. There's time, but we need to see if we can get someone to help.

You don't give up when Anderson is playing the way he is, you get some guys to help out.

Not sure we're giving up, but expectations should be realistically at an all time low.

Bet a deal goes down by Monday. Not sure if it'll be a huge deal or not, but I could see Cogliano and Whitney (who I don't care for) coming to Ottawa - at relatively low costs.

Who's giving up on the team ? Things are awfully bleak right now (like they weren't before), it's awfully hard to stay optimistic at this point. Pretty much everything that could go wrong has, everything.

It's like we were too healthy last year so the hockey gods are doing payback.

Murray's not going to pay a lot for bandaids. Whitney is a healthy scratch for the OILERS.

Teams are going to try and milk us since they know we'll be desperate. No one will give us a hand for cheap.
