Hopefully he's only out a month?

That's a big Cussing piece to lose for "only a month" in a short season. I'm glad we're winning without him but I'm not super-confident that it can be sustained. I hope I'm dead wrong.

Didn't he miss a bunch of games the year they went to the Finals? Chris Kelly filled in on the top line and they went 9-1. Is Chris available?

Hopefully the recovery is quick and he is back before the end of the season or at the latest, playoffs.

A set back for sure, but the team will have to overcome.

Dan Seguin: Murray says he'll try and replace from within. If that doesn't work he'll look to to make a trade. #cbcott

Sens are open for business...

That was totally unintentional.

God bless Murray for going out and getting Turris. Zibanejad has a chance to stick for good too and so far he looks perfect to fill in whatever role they want him too.

Herniated disc surgery? Yikes. If all goes well he'll only stay in hospital for a day and should be able to resume some workouts within three weeks. So I'd say 4-6 weeks, optimistic projection.

Rehab probably means no meds, walking around and some stretching. He's not skating and doing full workouts for 3 weeks. That's *if* everything goes well.

You can bounce back from this surgery rather quickly with some luck but we all know Spezza isn't Wolverine and he always seems to come back in the 8 week mark, not the 6 week mark. Hopefully he gets this surgery, heals up quick, and gets back on the ice. Sens will need him if they want to do anything except scrape into the playoffs.

Sens will be fine without him, big loss but not going to change the overall look of the team or the way they play.

The Sens can withstand this injury but a second key player going down could mean trouble.

I can't believe people are jumping off a cliff about this. Yah, Spezza is a big piece of the Sens but he isn't the one making the team go anymore and I don't think he ever has. Spezza is and always will be a compliment to however the system and team is built.

Everything in Ottawa revolves around puck control and quick transition, Spezza while a important part of that doesn't control the offense, Karlsson does and it's pretty clear now. Spezza doesn't break the puck out, Spezza doesn't make the saves, and Spezza doesn't block the shots, it's done by comity. Spezza is a game breaker or at least can be, he's the guy that can burry a team with one shot or pass, but he's not the guy who controls the game.

Big loss, not the end of the world. Sens will be fine.

I consider faceoffs pretty important considering our defence. Spezza takes a lot and wins a lot of them. It's not the end of the world by any means, but it's an important loss for 2 months in a 4 month season.
